UFC 143 Results: Judges' Score Cards and CompuStrike From Carlos Condit Vs. Nick Diaz

Everyone who watched UFC 143's welterweight interim title fight between Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit had their own score in their heads. Nick Diaz clearly thought he won the fight, apparently retiring in a snit after the loss. But only three people's opinions mattered and they all agreed that Carlos Condit won the fight. Here are each judges' round-by-round scores:

Judge Cecil Peoples had it: 10-9, 10-9, 9-10, 10-9, 10-9 for Condit.
Judge Patricia Morse Jarman had it: 10-9, 10-9, 9-10, 10-9, 10-9 for Condit.
Judge Junichiro Kamijo had it 10-9, 9-10, 10-9, 10-9, 9-10 for Condit.

Some interesting things to note. First off it's pretty amazing that only one judge scored the final round for Diaz given the take down and back mount. Secondly, it's interesting that only Kamijo had Diaz winning the second but Jarman and Peoples had Diaz winning the third. Everyone agreed that Condit won the first and fourth rounds.

Dana White scored it three rounds to two for Condit, with Diaz winning the first two and Condit the final three.

CompuStrike counted the strikes in the bout like so:

Condit outlanded Diaz in total strikes 146 to 110
Diaz outlanded Condit 86 to 42 in total arm strikes landed
Condit outlanded Diaz 104 to 19 in total leg strikes landed

Cecil was the one who had 49-46 and he didn't even give Condit arguably his best round of the fight lol

haha, i can't believe Cecil gave this fight to condit.... after the Shogun Machida decision he had lol

i haven't seen it yet so will reserve judgement but my personal opinion is that compubox/compustrike or whatever you want to call it is a load of shit.

i've seen so many fights where compubox stats are so at odds with the fight i'd just seen that i do not trust it's reliability at all.

Interesting scores.

good close fight but carlos won. remember when people wer talkin about how close faber/pulver 1 was yet everyone agreed faber won all 5 rds. a close fight doesnt necessarily means rounds are split between 2 fighters.......who wer the judges of sanchez/kampmann

I'm totally baffled by 2 judges having the 3rd round for Nick. I thought rounds 3,4,5 were all clear as day to score. 1 and 2 are the only ones up for debate

Yeah Rogan scored the fight for Condit at the fight , went home got high watched it again and scored it for Diaz

Same on second watch, mad close 1st which leads to a lot of debate on how the fuck do we really judge a fight?

Belcher was robbed that fight.

That fight could of gone either way, unlike this fight.

See I just don't get that line of thinking. We have 3 rounds that were scored for Diaz by atleast 1 judge. If you read all the fighters scoring they also have varying rounds they gave to Condit. Even if 5 out of 5 gave it to Condit it will be a mixture of rounds. So that alone should tell you some of those rounds are difficult to score. I'm not going around complaining that Nick was screwed out a dec, because it was a tough fight to score. I don't understand how anyone can say it wasn't a close fight or hard to score. But when talking about Diaz the bias works just the same both ways. Most either love him or hate him.

If Diaz won this fight, it would of been a true robbery, no love or hate can change that. He fought a losing battle.

You are being extremely stubborn on this subject. Multiple people in the MMA community have scored round different rounds for Diaz. You simply can't deny the variety of scoring for each round. Rounds 1,2 and 5 seem to be the most debated rounds just by looking at the numerous scoring out there. Multiple people have some variety of those rounds for Diaz.

GDP's view on this is extremely annoying and I scored the motherfucker for Condit.

The bottom line is MMA judges really don't know what to look for, they put more emphasis on some things then they do things that actually really matter, Jackson knows this and puts a gameplan together to exploit this, hence the criticism of him by Dana in the past and MMA trainers, it is not a perfect system, I don't think boxing judges should be MMA judges, how many big decisions have they messed up.
