Jon Fitch released from UFC?

Great question. Makes me question how financially stable they are right now. Something has to be wrong.

agreed. I can't imagine how thats possible but something is definitely going on. These are good fighters who dont deserve to be cut. The lack of depth on some future cards is already a concern imo. I dont get it.

15-3-1 in ufc and ranked # 9 welterweight gets you cut now?

He's lost only to top contenders. Is this more about politics? He's been outspoken and maybe this is the backlash?

I think it has to be a money issue. Has to be.

making some room for some of the SF guys and even letting a couple of them go. to many fighters and not enough shows maybe. Odd

fitch is 1-2-1 in his last four but before that dude was like 14-1 or some shit. Doubt he really got cut

Jon Fitch deserves a roster spot more then Nate Marquardt does.

Lack of depth? They have about a million dudes signed right now, people have been bitching for atleast a year about the number of non UFC caliber guys on the roster. The only ones on that list who shouldn't be cut are Volkmann and Fitch

Apparently they've announced they need to trim about 100 guys off the roster. I doubt it will be that many unless they got a bunch of new guys ready to come in but maybe we'll get back to the days where mediocre talent didn't have to lose 3 fights in a row to get cut which will be nice

Yeah but guys like Dan Hardy can lose 4 straight? Pat Barry? They gave them as many chances as they needed to put something together. Bisping has lost 2 of his last 3. He isn't in any better position then Fitch is right now.

As for Fitch, he's about a 60-60 guy who most people don't enjoy watch fighting and is no nowhere near a title shot. This to go along with the issues he and the UFC have had with each other and some of the shit he talked not too long ago, I'm not entirely surprised. Maybe he can go fight Askren that will be exciting

MMA is less a sport each day because of those dictating UFC's direction.

Read my post in the Volkmann thread... Fuck Zuffa. It's no longer a sport anymore...Pride was closer to a sport than UFC is now.

Asked Luke Thomas about this and he said fewer fights per card...isn't that the exact opposite of what was just reported like 3 days ago?

In 7+ years w/UFC, Fitch went 14-3-1, but UFC is hunting cost cuts everywhere. His $66K base & 1-2-1 record in last 4 likely sealed his fate

Yeah I really hope so. Fitch and Santiago would be nice adds to the WW tourney, fresh blood. Considering how close Heiron got to beating Askren you can put him in there as well. Would be nice adds to go over there along with Daley. Bellator needs fresh blood to put in their tourneys right now.
