You might want to check again there. Pretty sure it's rated R everywhere.

Nope, it's MA rated in Australia. 15+ or anyone younger needs an adult.

MA is a rating only used on TV here in the States. It's PG-13 or R when it comes to movies(lower ratings as well). My parents where pretty strict, I couldn't even watch PG-13 when I was 10. I was about 12 before I could really start watching PG-13 for the most part.

We hardly have any R rated movies here. U.S ratings suck.

That's alot of movies. Are 80s action movies somehow better then 2010s action movies?

Speaking of new action movies that new Dredd movie got decent ratings.

That's just the "essentials" list. I could probably name another 20-40 more without a problem. How you haven't seen just the ones I put up there is a question I want answered.

And yes, 80's action movies are better than 2010s action movies for the simple fact that many of 2010's action movies were influenced and or direct remakes/sequels of those 80s films. We'll never have another decade as purely awesome in that respect as the 80s.

Full Metal Jacket isn't an action movie though, it's really a psychological thriller of sorts. Kubrick's movies really should have their own genre.

Simple to answer really. Most of the movies I wasn't allowed to watch until way after they were made. During the VCR days we only had 1 VCR, we traveled alot with all of our(me and 2 sisters) sports teams.
I didn't see many movies when I was younger. By the time I was a teenager those movies were old news, just never got around to seeing them. Not until post high school did I start watching any old school movies at all anyways. I don't know how you guys had the time to see the shit ton of movies listed. How old where you when you saw most of these?

It has enough straight up action without all the fantasy aspects added in to qualify, though. I omitted Alien and Aliens, Excalibur, and a few others due to the sci-fi/fantasy aspects.

Almost all of those movies have been on network tv countless times in the last 20 years. You really are missing out on some classic films.

LOL Police Story I'm gonna watch that now haven't seen it in years. When I was a kid I watched a lot of Steven Seagal movies cause my uncle had a shit load of them and he was 18 or so when I used to go to my grandmas house so I watched all of those movies then.

Most of the good action movies are rated R and watching rated R movies on TV sucks balls. Also you have to catch them from the very beginning. If you see a movie you like on TV that you have seen before it's OK to tune in half way through the movie. But I never liked watching new movies on TV unless I saw them from start to finish. But even then edited movies aren't as good.

They are rated 1980's R, which is like PG-13 today. Aside from a few boob shots here and there and a few words dubbed over you won't find a whole lot of difference watching them on tv.

If you are talking about watching movies considered to be classics then watching the edited for content and condensed for time editions don't sound too appealing. Then there is the bigger issue of catching them when they start instead of tuning in while in progress.
