It's a bizarre situation, I'm still a frustrated fan at this point. Just so much I don't understand. Obviously there is plenty of information that isn't out there. I would love to have full details from everyone that even had their name mentioned yesterday. Personally I just found multiple people's actions puzzling. Looks like multiple people had the opportunity to step up and didn't. Just how it looks to me.

Shogun got destroyed in the first fight and from what Dana's said he's not been begging for a rematch so I can completely understand his decision, Machida on the other hand I've got no clue as to why he turned down the opportunity.
Silva wanted to help out I don't see the big isssue there.
Vitor's a name and talented striker so why not if everyone else is turning down Bones. Silva unwilling to defend his title despite being healthy and able to fight is inexcusable.
Just because Vitor is a "name"(also an active MW) isn't enough of an explanation. Plenty of other "names" and not all of them turned down the Jones fight. Only 2 names turned down the fight. Now we lose an awesome fight in Vitor vs Belcher when a LHW could have just as easily got the Jones fight and made more sense for everyone. Aside from Forrest there isn't really alot of guys available. uuhhh what about any LHW that is not injured and top 10? all better choices than Vitor IMO.
VItor is cannon fodder in this fight and everyone knows it 100% with you there. I understand Vitor being an option for 8 days notice. But considering all that went down and the fight being moved, I don't think he should be an option at this point.

I wouldn't of expected Shogun to take the fight. He is probably still chillin after his last fight and won't be full camping for his scheduled fight for a month or so. Plus he said he thought Machida proved himself over him on the Fox show meaning in his own mind this was not something he had yet proven he had earned. Also, Shogun i would think takes this seriously and wouldn't want this rematch to be thown together so hastily. I could easily see how it could be a waste to not have a camp against someone who had been in full camp mode for months and who had bested you last time so devistatingly, it shouldn't be taken lightly if it is important to you. There is a lot more to lose for him than someone like Sonnen, if he was to cash in his chance now at the rematch he could of been wasting it for ever and never get another if things went bad. There is p.lenty to understand about why Shogun is not fighting Bones in 8 days. I'm glad he is not. Shogun not taking this fight pretty much took away any chance of Shogun fighting for the LHW title in the future. He just moved himself far down that list. What did he have to lose? It's better for him to lose to Jones on short notice then to lose to Gus. So what's the risk? The winner of Gus/Shogun gets thE next shot, so he's right up on that list... That is not set in stone and you really think that Shogun will get that shot? He turned down a title shot, Dana won't forget that. You're a little off today, go on break and lay off the energy drinks

| They could've given Gustafsson the shot and had Machida vs Rua 3 set up for the next shot if Hendo isn't fit. |

I wish I had a statement saying "I'm not healthy enough to take the fight" or something saying he has to heal up. I don't think they would offer him the fight if there was some kind of injury, that would be silly. Replacing an injured fighter with an injured fighter. But the only information I have is Dana obviously thought he was healthy enough to offer the fight. Shogun declined the fight. That's the information available.

| I don't understand why they would consider offering the fight to Shogun for any reason other than desperation. Vera hung tough and gave Shogun a legitimately tough war before going out on his shield, the most tough Vera has ever really fought in his career in my opinion. He should of been low on their list of alternatives. if they were so desperate then Gus and Davis would of been better picks with them not being on suspension. | |

I'm with you here. With everything. I also want to know why Shogun was offered the fight? Did they have realistic expectations that Shogun would be able to take the fight? What other fighters were considered? All good questions that we don't have the answer to right now.

| It really pisses me off to see Shogun thrown under the bus by Fertitta as not being a "real fighter". | |

He may not have taken the time to throw out exceptions and just blanketed everyone in that statement. I wish we had more information on everything. I hope Shogun's camp comes out some details. Yesterday was a bad day for the UFC so Lorenzo could have got caught up in everything going on.

Looks like Sept. 2 or 3rd is the most likely. Preference? Date and time?
