Sergei Kharitonov vs Tony Lopez booked for United Glory MMA May 26

Hard-hitting heavyweight striker Sergei Kharitonov is back in the mixed martial arts (MMA) spotlight, coming to terms with United Glory for an upcoming bout against the dangerous Tony Lopez at the "2012 Glory World Series" on May 26 in Stockholm, Sweden.

News of the pending match-up comes via the fine men and women at LiverKick.com.

Kharitonov (18-5) was last seen kicking the crap out of Mark Miller under the United Glory banner just last month in Russia. It was a nice rebound win (under kickboxing rules) for the former paratrooper, who was bounced from the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix with a submission loss to Josh Barnett back in 2011.

But things aren't getting any easier.

Lopez (31-8.) has been on an absolute tear under the King of the Cage (KOTC) umbrella, winning seven straight fights and securing seven violent finishes in the process. Just over half of all wins for "Kryptonite" have come by way of tap, nap or snap.

Yeah, but Lopez is going to be smashed worse than Mark Miller was, I think Miller is a lot better kickboxer.

BUT, nobody will ever be more King of the Cage than Lopez.

Yeah but it's still a decent non Zuffa opponent for Sergei. Would also be Lopez's biggest win. Bring the winner to UFC, fuck it.

Oh this is a MMA fight? I was thinking Kickboxing. Well now I have the Paratrooper KOing Lopez, but not as dominantly as before.

Sergei's next kickboxing bout is vs. Semmy. He's gonna get his ass beat there.

Nearly 10 years ago in an MMA bout?....yes, even though that happened. K-1 Sergei has not been in the same league as Semmy.

Anyway, i just looked and Sergei isnt going to be fighting Semmy. Actually, the event that was in talks to happen at was this very event that Sergei will be fighting Lopez under MMA rules.

Why didn't they sign Sergei ?

Are Zuffa still butting heads over the pay issue with Golden Glory ?

I'm sure their lawsuit vs. Overeem isnt helping the Zuffa-Golden Glory relationship as well.

Zuffa has a thing against Russian folks. I think the one dude they got now is the first since tark.

I expect Sergei to win this fight. But like I said Sergei would blast HD and a number of Zuffa HWs.

I said both. Well actually what I said was Lopez beating HD wouldn't shock me, they are on the same level and I don't know who I would pick if they fought. All true.

I think Tony Lopez would lose to Buddy Roberts and Ricky Shivers whoever the fuck they are. Are these old school pro-wrestlers or country singers he be losin' to?

HD might lose to Bobby Lashley. That is about the level of competition he should be fighting. Fun fact, Tim Hague is 1-4 in the UFC, his lone win was stopping HD in round 1.

HD got caught in a choke in like 7 seconds, in 2009. He was still a pro-kick boxer in 2008. You're not someone known for your brains but even you're smart enough to see that fighters can improve submission defense.

And HD might lose to Bobby Lashly. So could Lavar Johnson. So could Sergei. So could Tony Lopez. Big wrestlers can win fights. The only loss he ever had was against Grave Digger in a fight he was dominating in before he gassed out. He's been working with Josh Barnett and is improving. He just won Shark Fights HW title you know.
