I've been checking out places like Mania, BE and MMA-fighting and fans are giving Hendo no shot. This means the buzz will not be there to produce the buys you're predicted. I don't know if Aldo vs noname would make this card top the Evans fight.

The closer we get to fight time, the more people will remember this is fucking Dan Henderson. They will also remember how much they want to see Bones get his ass beat. Then you have the morons that back the guy. Don't be silly, this will sell huge.

| Yea, and they'll remember he lost his last two UFC title fights. No way does this outsell the Evans fight. Not a chance.
It isn't gonna be with Aldo though, it's been moved back probably to late Sept.

It isn't gonna be with Aldo though, it's been moved back probably to late Sept. The casual fan will probably remember his last fight with Bisping more than anything. Either that or his epic battle with Shogun. Which got a ton of love post fight as the best fight ever. I think it's much more possible those fights come to mind then his lost title fights. Let's see how you feel closer to fight time. We both know you have an awful habit of being a prisoner of the moment.

| No more than anyone else. Prove it. Go.
If closer to fight time there is a ton of buzz suddenly, that will be different. See, the thing is, when opinions are not tied to ones insufficient dick-size, they can change and fluctuate with new data. I'm lookin' good downstairs so, I can change up my opinion when it makes sense. Like after a fight where a dude did something to suggest he is better/worse than what we thought before the fight. Or if the buzz for this fight resembles something that will actually sell. Right now, it does not.
And if people remember his Shogun war, they'll remember he almost lost that fight, and that Jones obliterated Hendo.
600k max. Likely 500k. Possibly 400k.

| Dude, we're talking about PPV buys here. Look at the way black fighters draw. Look at the way non-super star champions draw. Unless there is compelling drama accompanied by a credible threat, black and foreign(white Canadian GSP excluded) fighters and champions can't draw huge numbers. 700k would always be huge, but these days it is really huge.
Bet with me on this. Make me gold if this fight doesn't top 750k.

Bet with me on this. Make me gold if this fight doesn't top 750k. Can I delete you if it doesn't? How about when you start changing your tune about the event when it comes closer to time? Why 750K? You said it won't even sniff the Evans vs Jones fight. If that is true then it shouldn't even approach 650K. But I'm sure you will have some excuse like the card they put around it. Maybe you can back peddle about Jones selling more PPV by himself then you thought. I'm looking forward to just how and when you tone will change. Fake ass.

I can't make you gold, I can't delete you. Why would I give you so much cushion with 750K anyways? With your big talk you should be lowering that number to 600K. You flip flop for whatever is hot. You overreact to each and every single card. Whatever sounds good at the time is what you beleive. You're a trendy fan. A joke.

Give me something of substance to respond to and I will. You aren't making any sense in any of your arguments. What exactly am I suppose to be responding to? Did I miss something?

- I predicted he would not be cut after his last two losses when others said he would be. If he were cut, it wouldn't be particularly anomalous, but him not being cut for the reasons I predicted were exactly in line with the statements made by White regarding Barry and if he should be cut. Exciting fighters deserve to be in the UFC more than boring ass fighters. This is why John Madsen isn't in the UFC anymore. Why Antonio Mckee isn't in the UFC anymore. And why nobody is asking WHEN ARE YOU GONNA SIGN BEN ASKREN despite him winning his last Bellator title fight while Alvarez lost his last title fight.
Anyway, the only time it would have been typical for him to be cut was his last loss, marking his second in a row. It is unusual when guys are cut after just one loss and Barry only had one two fight losing streak. But again, the first fight in the streak was against Kongo and we all remember how NUTS that was.
I don't understand what you're even arguing here. Are you saying the UFC's bottom third of the HW division should all just be cut because they don't really belong in the UFC despite the fucking fact they are in fact in the fucking UFC? Respond in one of those threads to this. Unless you wanna have this brawl break into a third thread. Our battles are known for spanning multiple threads like this. MMA nerds <3

| I think I have responded to most of that. But I'll pick up at the end where maybe I haven't. Don't group 33% of the HW roster in with HD. It is common for the bottom level of UFC fighters to be circulated in and out of the UFC. Even at the weak HW division there are still plenty of fighters not with Zuffa that are more worthy of a contract. Even being the fanboy you are, you know damn well he could have been justifiably cut from the UFC on more then one occasion now. I honestly don't understand what you are arguing here. There is no way I'm going to beleive that Pat Barry would still be in the UFC if he wasn't a lovable goofy bastard. | |

| You do not have a full perspective apparently on how the UFC handles fighters and how the UFC grades a fighters worth to the promotion. Any one loss could lead to "justifiably cut" per UFC contracts but the UFC rarely cuts off of one loss. You KNOW this. You have to know this. You've, in theory, watched MMA for years. There is no way you couldn't know this...I hope. It is more common for the UFC to cut lower tier guys after two losses. Especially in swollen weight classes where there are twice as many fighters as at HW. You'll notice guys at HW and LHW sometimes getting more chances because those are shallow divisions. The UFC has not cut Barry's last opponent, Christian Morecraft either and he is on a two fight losing streak and is 1-3 in the UFC. Rob Broughton has been retained and he is 1-2 on a two fight streak as well. Roy Nelson has not been cut despite having a 2 fight losing streak and being 1-3 in his last 4. Crocop was not cut after his second loss in a row to Brendan Schaub. Carwin was not released after his 2 fight losing streak. Lavar Johnson was retained from Strikeforce after losing two in a row. Kongo was not released after losing two in a row. Gonzaga had to lose two in a row twice before they released him. Beltran was released after being defeated by Lavar Johnson, but that marked his second 2 fight losing streak in 5 UFC bouts. Barry is a top level striker. He was tooling CC and Kongo before they turned the tide on him. His other two losses were submissions, which is to be expected. His UFC record never dipped more than one fight below .500. The UFC likes to bring their young, up and coming HW prospects along, allowing them to lose here and there without automatically releasing them. The UFC tends to stick with fighters who have upside. Something Barry clearly has. When would the UFC have cut him that would have been within the divisional norm and not atypical of how they handle HW's nowdays? After which fights and why? Releasing a stand up fighter they signed as a baby prospect after a single submission loss, a war against CC, or the Kongo brawl would have been VERY atypical. Only after the Struve loss would it have been more within the norm, but has I have demonstrated, retaining a HW on a two fight losing streak, especially one with upside, is not atypical either. You are not implying Barry is below the caliber of even the bottom third of the UFC's division are you? That is nuts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_UFC_fighters | |
