| Luckily we can put this ridiculousness to bed for now until he has a legitimate claim. | |

| Second best may be a stretch, the win over BJ being the number 1 ever helps his case though and the fact he lost a close controversial decision(which I agree with, but he was game as fuck either way) to a guy who cries about cutting too much weight, while he cuts none is also a mitigating factor. But Edgar has definitely forged a legacy in the LW division. Wins over Franca, Griffin, Miller, Bocek, Sherk, Penn, Maynard are really good wins.
It has been a long time since Gomi's era, and most of us didn't even watch it all live or at all, so it gets hard to judge it accurately, and easy to write it off as inferior to today's game and leave it at that. It is equally so for those of us who did and nostalgically look back and are then reluctant to accept the idea Japanese MMA compared to today's, especially in the LW division, may not have been as good. The truth is a little of both.
I know Gomi is shot, but that dude looks like he can barely fight at all. It is more than just a fading chin or decline in hand speed. His technique is trash. Let's face it. Gomi isn't as good as he is ranked all time. Not that he isn't a top five guy. I donno, this division is a tough one to easily divide into a neat pantheon of best ever's.
I can't take a firm stance on this, because I don't see enough evidence to confidently argue for any specific list of fighters in any specific order.

I'm not writing anyone off. I said from the very first post on this thread that this was premature. Are you still salty about the hat joke? Wanna hug it out, bro?

| Well it just continued the trend of Frankie being in extremely competitive decisions. He was on the right end of a couple and now finds himself on the other end. The LW division is so nasty these days. Good luck seeing anyone dominate that division anytime soon. | |

| What does it mean for Frankie's legacy that the last 3 people he fought all qualified for immediate rematches? Even if this 3rd one doesn't happen(doesn't appear it will). I think most people would understand if it did. Kind of a crazy situation. IF Frankie didn't already rematch his last two opponents, we could be seeing this rematch. | |

| Was just thinking something similar. His legacy is young but for me he is still 2-3 in his last 5 fights. | |

It will be interesting looking back for Frankie. IMO he is still a top p4p fighter. Interesting to see what it all looks like when he hangs em up.
