| http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/news/383512/Condit-accepts-rematch-with-Diaz/ - Quote :
- However, sources close to the deal just confirmed with The Underground that Carlos Condit has accepted a rematch with Nick Diaz, with the UFC Interim Welterweight title again on the line.
Condit said 'Yes, I accept the rematch' and will be in Las Vegas on Thursday to finalize the deal.
The winner will presumably face GSP for the Unified Welterweight title, when the Canadian recovers fully from knee surgery, which is expected to be around November.
It's unclear at this time as to when the rematch will take place, but it looks like the fans have got what they asked for.

| But Cesar said that Condit vs Diaz or GSP won't happen this year apparently. Don't know what's going on right now
I think its total BS that Condit would have to beat Diaz twice before fighting GSP though. Makes their first fight totally irrelevant as the same stakes are on the line

| So what happens if Diaz wins? do we get a rubber match to decide who fights GSP? Did Diaz even come back out of retirement? |

| According to his teammate Kenny Florian that is what he said…
"It’s interesting actually. At dinner after UFC 143 Georges said that he wants to fight Diaz so bad that he would be willing to give up his belt just so he can fight Diaz and then he would fight Condit, this is how bad he wants to fight Diaz."

DAMN. It is pretty bad when someone is willing to give up the money that goes with the belt just to kick another persons ass. I don't think I would want to be Nick Diaz if that happens.

| Between this and the GSP comments on the Primetime show and everywhere else. They seem to be really hoping for GSP vs Diaz. | |

I think that answer is obvious. The UFC and GSP both obviously want Diaz vs GSP to go down. Diaz vs Condit rematch will again be for the Interim Title. So you can bet your ass that IF Diaz finds away to win this time around, they will do everything they can to get Diaz and GSP in the cage ASAP!

| Don't really see the need for one. Props to Condit for being willing to risk his title shot. |

Well he has a chance to defend his title and GSP isn't pressured to return premature. If Condit beats Nick again it could be the best thing for him.

I don't mind them as an incentive to make sure the champ defends against the #1 contender but I don't accept them as legitimate world titles. |

Condit has a belt, that belt will be on the line for his next fight. Just stating the facts here. Condit's title, whatever you want to call it, will be on the line. You may not like it, but it is what it is.

| Lame. Condit screw job sounds like. If Diaz wins he shouldn't get GSP, but that is in the script, Condit should of played ball and not gone out and bettered Diaz. | |

Smart move by Condit might have been, "I damaged my hand, probably won't need surgery." It's not like the UFC can have 2 Interim titles.

| The more I think about it, I would rather GSP drops the title, he has been out a long time, fights DIAZ for a shot at the Welterweight titleholder, Carlos Condit or whoever beats Condit between now and then. It would clear up the situation rather quickly and everybody gets what they want. | |

Totally lame. This is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen the UFC do

GSP isn't ready. Hendricks not there yet. Kos was unimpressive and had his chance. Fitch was just KTFO. So Carlos can wait around or the UFC can try 1 more time to get the fight they want. That's their line of thinking, not that it's right. Because honestly, it sucks for Carlos.

| Hendricks is there, or Ellenberger is fighting in less than 7 days against Sanchez. ... .... ..... I want a new fight, not an unwarranted rematch.
This rematch is nothing more than Condit fucked with Zuffa $$$ by besting Diaz.
