Soon for Ronda, not yet though. Also, she may struggle to get girl down more than people think, she didnt really toss her opponents, just basic UFC 2 Royce leg trips mostly. I think she may get blown out actually. And Gina would beat her senseless. Give her some time to mature. Too soon.

Maybe you want to clarify a little better... What I meant was that while Ronda hasn't fought anybody in this sport, this sport, at least for women, has never seen anyone with her credentials before. WMMA has never seen an olympic athlete that medaled in the olympics before her. While she may not have fought anyone she has the career in sport judo that builds the mental toughness and experience with top level competition that sort of bridges the gap in overall experience.

| We may not have seen this caliber of athlete but we have seen higher caliber fighters. Ronda is attempting that transition at the moment. | |

| Yea exactly OU. Also, I donno enough about the caliber of bitch in womens Judo, but mens judo does not have a specific amazing caliber of athlete, and imo most NCAA top ten wrestlers if they switched to judo would be olympic level in a muuuch shorter time than top judokas could get to the NCAA top level, and while most martial arts at the olympic level produce some mma fighters, judo is known for NOT being a great base for MMA with the best judo fighters in the sport being manny, karo, akiyama, ishii and soko who each and every one has had articles published on how they are MMA busts. I know from my experience IN judo and with my kids(if I were yall id attack this, literally, id go there, donno why yall havent yet) experience in judo that judo is very throw oriented and the sub games in judo are well behind bjj in general.
But then I look at this bitches shoulders.

| Judo is actually more popular in brazil and jiu jitsu is. Demian Maia, Jacare, etc etc etc, most of the top guys are black belts in Judo as well. I wouldn't say jiu jitsu is necessarily better than judo in submissions, the thing you have to take into account is that there is Judo and sport Judo(IE Olympic Judo). Judo itself integrates just as much ground work as jiu jitsu, and many of the submissions of jiu jitsu are borrowed or built upon from judo.
The reason we don't see as much submission specialization out of many high level judokas is because in order to compete you pretty much have to center your game around the sport aspects. Sport Judo doesn't allow for alot of ground work, and is focused mainly on the throws and trips. It also under no circumstances allows for leglocks of any kind due to the quick nature in which you can be seriously injured by them.
Can Tate take Ronda down? If she can, can she stay on top and avoid the submission?

| Ya ludo, when i did judo it was more gurilla jujistsu basically cause our instructor brought all that up. The point is, if she was a medalist, she probably didnt do a lot of ground work. The chicks she fought were all green or couldnt fight at all, two dont have winning records, none have ever beat a name fighter, i bet most male judo medalists could quickly sub that caliber of fighter in mens MMA. | |

| My old trainer the guy to the left of Ronda, Josh Williams, is a Judo brownbelt. He showed me alot of stuff but it was more in defense of throws I suck as the throws themselves but I can defend some. | |

| http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2012/2/29/2833709/ronda-rousey-miesha-tate-fight-judo-wrestling-strikeforce Luke Thomas: There's obviously a lot of overlap between amateur wrestling, folkstyle, freestyle, Greco Roman and judo but I guess my question to you would be, why does your judo beat Miesha Tate's wrestling? Ronda Rousey: I think it's because I have a very unorthodox style of judo in that I kind of have a weird European-Japanese-Brazilian jiu-jitsu mix that is extremely hard to prepare for and I train with world champion and Olympic medalist wrestlers several times a week and there's no way that she could have judo players of my caliber to train with. It's just such an unorthodox style that I don't think she can be nearly as prepared for me as I am for her. Luke Thomas: You come in reaching for her arm, I've never seen you change elevation at least not yet in your career. More than just being a different style, I mean the particular application of it. Is she not going to be as strong as you, is she not going to be able to understand the angle at which you come to grab her, what do you mean? Ronda Rousey: Well, yeah, like you were pointing out, for judo players, you don't change levels when you come in for the takedowns, you telegraph a lot less. What was the rest of your question, just the advantage that judo players have in general? Luke Thomas: I guess I'm just wondering, I talked to [Tate] and her sense was that her wrestling really had a lot of different tools to stop your judo and what you're telling me is quite the opposite in a sense that she doesn't even know what she's getting into. Ronda Rousey: There's no way she can know because I'm not a normal judo player and she, I think it's ridiculous to assume that you know how to defend a style that you've never fought against or had any experience training with. | |

| It is on one hand, a low caliber wrestler vs. a high caliber judo player. But on the other hand, its an experienced mixed martial artist vs. a relative newcomer to the sport. Based on the trash talk, I'm rooting for Tate to win, but have a weird feeling Rousey will find the sub eventually. My hope is that Tate can out strike Rousey and keep the fight standing. We haven't seen Rousey fight under adversity, or for more then a minute for that matter. | |
