| Miesha Tate has suffered a knee injury in training and has withdrawn from her scheduled March 5 title bid against Strikeforce 135-pound women's champion Marloes Coenen.
Coenen will instead make her first title defense against two-time Strikeforce veteran Liz Carmouche at Strikeforce “Henderson vs. Feijao,” which goes down from Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio and airs on Showtime.
Headlining the event will be the titular light heavyweight title bout pitting former two-division Pride champion Dan Henderson against current Strikeforce 205-pound king Rafael Cavalcante.
Also scheduled for the show is a middleweight attraction between former Strikeforce title challenger Tim Kennedy and hard-hitting Dutchman Melvin Manhoef, and a lightweight affair between Jorge Masvidal and Billy Evangelista.
Coenen comes in off of her title-winning performance last October, where she submitted champ Sarah Kaufman with a third-round armbar. Prior to that victory, the Golden standout was defeated in another championship endeavor, as the game but overmatched Coenen was stopped by Strikeforce's 145-pound titleholder Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos the previous January.
A 10-year veteran of the sport, the 29-year-old submission specialist has tapped out 13 of her 18 career victims.
A member of Team Hurricane Awesome and a former U.S. Marine, Carmouche is undefeated in her nascent MMA career at 5-0 after beginning her career just nine months ago.
After earning a unanimous decision over Colleen Schneider at Strikeforce Challengers 10 in August, “Girl-rilla” finished her next two foes, including Jan Finney in the Strikeforce cage in November.

That sucks, that card was looking pretty weak sauce with only 4 main card fights this is a blow. Let's see how far Hendo-Feijao and Kennedy-Manhoef can take this card.

| I was never psyched about Coennen vs Tate. So this is not a killer blow.
But Girl-Rilla looked pretty tough. She's jacked. She could hurt Coennen if she keeps the fight standing.
Though neither girl has the curves of Tate. So that is disappointing.

| Strikeforce needs to start cradle robbing some of the old TUF castaway favorites. Or atleast former UFC vets. They have what it takes to put on some badass cards, but lack the hypeluster for sure. | |

| Only thing that could redeem this card is Melvin blitzing Kennedy senseless in the first couple minutes

| This card projects to have a 75% finish rate. Main event is dope, I don't expect people to be up on Billy E vs Gamebread, but that is a good scrap. We will see what happens with Kennedy vs Melvin, but there is potential there, certainly not devoid of name recogntion.
If this were a PPV u naysayers would have a point, but it's not. Sit back, enjoy.

| I think if Hendo does not finish the fight in the first 2 rounds, Feijao is going to find a rythm and take over for a decision. In the 3 Feijao fights i've seen he's a really really slow starter, can't seem to find his range, and he gets hit and then all of a sudden he's a different fighter landing everything, not getting hit, crisp and looking like somebody who is Anderson Silva's main sparring partner...which he is. A really slow starter is not something you want to be vs. Hendo though but i think he'll weather the storm.
I was actually looking forward to Coenen and Tate. Tate has been pretty dominant lately against some tough ladies. She's probably the best wrestler in the womens division though SF just signed a olympic wrestler. It would have been cool to see her vs. Coenen's slick submissions...but then again, i'm a womens MMA enthusiast...i know i know, that must mean i get off on watching chicks throw down.

| All I want is my dude Jason to win his fight, I'm pumped to see what happens in the rest of the card but all I really care about is Jasons fight. | |

- “It was wrestling day and I was going with a guy that was probably about 165 (pounds), which is about my cap. Usually I don’t go much bigger than that because I end up getting hurt, and anyways he went in to shoot a double-leg, I kind of stuffed that, and he went for an ankle pick. My ankle rolled and my knee went out from the rest of my body, kind of out to the side,” Tate explained. “I just kind of heard a pop and then I fell down in a lot of pain and hobbled off the mat.”
