| http://bleacherreport.com/tb/bcjhAChamp St-Pierre injured, Diaz vs. Condit for interim title at UFC 143 by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Dec 07, 2011 at 1:10 pm ET A serious injury has forced Georges St-Pierre (22-2 MMA, 16-2 UFC) out of UFC 143's main event and will sideline him for 10 months. With the titleholder shelved due to an ACL injury, officials have booked his original opponent, Nick Diaz (26-7 MMA, 7-4 UFC), to meet Carlos Condit (27-5 MMA, 4-1 UFC) for an interim belt in the event's new headliner. UFC president Dana White today tweeted the news. "GSP blown acl will be out for 10 mos.," White tweeted. "Now Condit vs Diaz for the interim welterweight title on Feb 4th in Las Vegas!!" It's not clear if Condit's original opponent at UFC 143, Josh Koscheck (16-5 MMA, 14-5 UFC), will remain on the card. UFC 143 takes place Feb. 4 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The event's main card airs live on pay-per-view. Condit, of course, initially was slated to fight St-Pierre. However, after Diaz topped B.J. Penn in October at UFC 137, he called out the champ, and St-Pierre campaigned for the fight with him instead. As luck would have it, Condit gets a title shot anyway. St-Pierre was slated to fight Diaz, the former Strikeforce titleholder, in a champion-vs.-champion fight at UFC 137. However, Diaz no-showed a pair of pre-event press conferences and was pulled from the title fight, and Condit got his spot instead. St-Pierre then was forced off the card with a knee injury, Condit was put on the shelf, and Diaz defeated Penn in the new headliner before calling out St-Pierre an infamous post-fight interview. With his dominant unanimous-decision victory over Penn, Diaz now has won 11 straights, and he's 15-1 since 2006. He now meets Condit, a former WEC champion who's 12-1 in his 13 fights. The lone loss came via close split decision to Martin Kampmann in his 2009 octagon debut. | |

| Tearing your ACL is ducking now? What world do you in live in OU...fantasy land that's where. You should feel luck GSP is out because he would have won 50-45 all of three score cards. Does anyone ever know why Anderson isn't fighting Chael next? He never even come out and said what is his injury and why he is not fighting... | |

LOL come on man, you have to know I'm just poking fun at the insane idea that any UFC Champion is currently ducking anyone. I do think Nick puts a hurt on GSP after a long layoff, but no GSP is not ducking him.

| Since GSP is out until October/November, Ellenberger will probably get the next shot in the early summer againt the winner of Diaz/Condit after he destroys Diego.
Also its pretty much a fact GSP will never move to 185. When he gets back their will be so many contenders, he will most likely end his career at 170.

So you are saying this is just a big blessing in disguise? Because I was dreaming about the Condit vs Diaz title fight that would have been next year and GSP to 185 being fucking silly and something I'm frankly tired of talking about at this point. I've beat that horse to death.

I don't like Kos vs BJ but Kos vs Rory could be fun. If BJ is going to stick around I would prefer he fight someone like Alves.

| I don't think Condit beats Diaz at all. He striking is good, but not good enough to keep Diaz at bay. Condit has power, but not one punch power so Diaz will still be able to swarm him with out being afraid of being knocked out. His wrestling is decent, but not good enough to get Diaz to the ground or hold him on the ground.
Condit is a great fighter, but stylistically Diaz is a bad matchup for him.
Ellenberger is more interesting because he has massive, one punch power in both of his hands. Although Diaz has a great chin, he will have to be careful and pick his shots better, because one punch for Ellenberger and that could be it. Jake also has good wrestling base and has a btter chance of getting and holding Diaz to the floor then Condit does.

| I got Diaz, Condit will have to land something explosive and pounce h core to finish Diaz, I see Diaz battering him down for a couple of rounds until Condit is spent. | |

| It would crazy if Fitch ended up facing Diaz instead of Ellenberger. Personally would favor him to win. | |

Fitch vs Diaz would be an interesting fight, especially for 5 rounds. No doubt that Nick would do damage but could Fitch win enough rounds to take it? Tough matchup for Nick, it's nearly impossible to stop Fitch.
