because you don't want to see Bisping smashed when he's this close?
and Palhares isnt top 10...thanks to some oppressive matchmaking. But yeah, wouldnt want Bisping to lose via ligament disconnecting heel hook from a non top 10 fighter. Because Vitor's already got a fight lined up with Rumble, Maia's free and is coming off a win over Santiago.
Harris might be a beast to you hardcore fans but he's virtually unknown to the casual fans, high risk low reward. That fight is only a month away so that isn't that long of a wait for Bisping, but in reality....the UFC knows better...they will never match Vitor up with Bisping for obvious reasons.... You are 100% right about Paul Harris so that leaves you with like I said Wand and Maia. Expect either of them to headline against Bisping on the card in Aussie land.

| It's not a given that Mike beats Maia, Demian's hands have been improving steadily these past couple fights, he even rocked Munoz. |

but Munoz is a sloppy striker who gets hit and rocked fairly often since coming to the UFC. A dangerous striker and good striker are not the same thing. Munoz has scary power, but he's sloppy, leaves several openings that have been exposed several times, and has no movement at all. So, Maia having success while a huge step for Maia to have success standing against anybody, it's not really a big deal that he fought agressive and landed on Munoz. That is the only difference with Maia now. He's more agressive with his strikes. I'll give Bisping enough credit to say that he would absolutely pick Demian Maia apart in the stand up...and if he were able to keep it standing against somebody like Munoz, he'd likely pick him apart as well if he stayed away from the big haymaker and was not affected by the threat of a takedown.

| Bisping wasnn't and still isn't ready for Munoz or Sonnen, so Sonnen wanting to step down in comp and fight the winner of Miller/Bisping instead of Munoz made no sense. Miller was not top 25 going into this fight and Bisping was not top ten and if he is after tonight it's by no other reason than default.
I would rather see bisping fight Palharres than Maia. If Belfort gets by Johnson, he should fight Maia. The thought he needs to be protected from Palharres kills me, protecting competitors for the sake of familiarity? FUCK THAT,. Bisping isn't headlining another show again anytime soon, no need for that kind of BS thinking. For my ladder on what guys have shown and what makes for logical matchups in the UFC in 2012, Palharres and Bisping are in that top 15 range, Maia and Balfort are in that top 10 range, and Sonnen and Munoz are in that top 5 range.
Next fights
Bisping - Palharres if when he tears apart Massenzio, or Stann, or Belchar Miller - Court McGee, Nick Ring, Rafel Natal

| I still don't think that highly of Munoz. A W is a W but his "big" wins over Leben and Maia have made me thinking this guy, while good is seriously flawed. His wrestling has NOT been dominant as you would expect somebody with his credentials to be going through the middle pack and was completely unable to takedown Okami in several attempts(7 percent rate according to fightmetric) while Okami took him down in his only attempt i believe , he has actually proven to not be that hard to takedown even for somebody like Leben. As i said with his striking, he is dangerous because he has power and he is agressive, but this guy gets hit and rocked plenty..too often by lesser fighters and strikers than Michael Bisping. I just don't view Munoz as somebody Bisping could not beat. I think in a division that still held Nate Marquardt..Marquardt would be better..and i still view Yushin Okami as the better fighter than Munoz. I think Sonnen will beat Munoz handily. If Munoz defeats Sonnen, than Munoz will have likely shown a performance on the level of which we have never seen or could have expected from him IMO.
As for Bisping, he's in the discussion...deserving or not. I say not. Miller is above any of Palhares wins but not above any of Belfort or Maia's wins. You figure with Spider out for awhile...Bisping will have to put another notch in his belt. I would be pretty skeptical if he fought somebody like Maia or Wandy and beat them...he would pretty much need to beat Sonnen, Okami, Belfort, or Munoz at this point for me to buy him in a title fight. A win over Palhares, Kennedy, or Stann would help.

| Munoz can drop people or pound them unconscious, that's his deal more than what any other should be right now. He doesn't really have takedown defense because he has well above average get back to his feet. His takedowns definitely leave much to be desired more and more though. Him taking punches is gonna cost him for reals some day against a real heavy puncher. | |

Belcher? Time for Bisping to fight higher profile guys. I know it's off a loss, but i like an Okami matchup.

Maybe he is(I'd pick Bisping right now), but with only 1 fight in the last year and a half, and that being vs Jason MacDonald, he should not be in the Bisping discussion. Bisping is a high profile guy who has been on a roll. IMO he is one good win from a title shot. Belcher would not be that win. Bisping should be looking Chael or Vitor. Prob doesn't get either, but enough of Bisping vs mid rung guys.

Sonnen is a better MMA wrestler. His pressure, smothering, and beter technical skills will win out.

| Pretty shitty. Very disappointing for a FOX card. This event would do horrific PPV buys. | |

Two very intriguing fights are shitty ? It's not what I thought the FOX cards were for. I don't care if I see either fight. If it was a PPV, no one would buy it.

The JDS fight was just a special thrown in there. These are not the fights I expected to be featured on network TV.

Shad and Sonnen are two of biggest names in the organization, I don't have any issues with the card, there will be plenty more on the horizon. |
