| http://www.mmamania.com/2011/10/14/2489799/anderson-silva-retiring-after-four-more-fights-says-manager-ed-soares - Quote :
- UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva, the winner of 14 straight bouts inside the Octagon, has "around" four fights left in his career before calling it quits.
That's according to the Brazilian's manager, Ed Soares, who recently told SporTV (via Bloody Elbow) that fans may only get four more chances to see "The Spider" do his thing.
And why waste them on rematches with Chael Sonnen and Vitor Belfort, two fighter he already finished?
"Let's see what the big boss is going to do. My opinion is that he (Sonnen) had his chance and tapped, he should go back to the end of the line. The same thing is true with Vitor Belfort. They're great fighters, but they had their chance. Sonnen would make a big fight, as would Dan Henderson and Georges St-Pierre, but we should recognize that Anderson only has around 4 fights left in his career."
The mixed martial arts community has been clamoring for "Silva vs. Sonnen II" following Sonnen's successful return to action at UFC 136, a second round submission win over the hard-hitting Brian Stann back on Oct. 8, 2011.
It helps that Sonnen went into his pro wrestling schtick and ran a verbal train on the cageside champion after the fight, but outside of the trash talk, there is a legitimate argument for booking part deux.
That's because the mouthy ex-Realtor beat the stuffing out of Silva for four and a half rounds back at UFC 117 and to date, has been the only middleweight to pose any kind of threat to the 185-pound kingpin.
True, he was finished before he could seal the deal, but his performance was light years beyond what any other challenger was able to accomplish. Dan Henderson? He likely won the first round against Silva at UFC 82, but was quickly finished off in the second stanza.
So, if "The Spider" has only four bouts left, who should he use them to fight? If he's not moving up or down in weight for a potential "superfight," then few challenges outside of Sonnen remain.
Anyone out there have the answer?
Is it time to get Hector Lombard out of Bellator and into the UFC? Or should we give the winner of Michael Bisping vs. Jason Miller the next title shot?

| so he doesn't want a Chael rematch, doesn't want a Vitor rematch... so he wants Silva to have 4 easy fights to finish off his career? | |

| Chael rematch is unavoidable, Dana will push for it hard. A Vitor rematch is pointless IMO, Silva would be wasting his time there.
In a perfect world those four fights would be.
Sonnen, GSP, Evans and then Bones. |

Sonnen, GSP, Evans and then Bones. Why Evans? I personally think Silva loses to Sonnen. Then rematches immediately. Wins the belt back and then fights GSP. Loses then hangs it up.

| WTF Soares way to make Anderson look like a pussy trying to get out of the fight with Sonnen. Acting like Sonnen doesn't deserve a rematch is bullshit. | |

I figured Silva should at least have fight at LHW before being ushered into a title shot. Plus I like that style match up, Evans speed and wrestling makes it intriguing for me. |

| If Soares wants him to fight different dudes he needs to get Anderson to go up to 205, otherwise he's gonna have to fight the second best at MW which right now has got to be Chael and if Vitor knocks some dudes out he's gonna be there again. | |

| I guess Sonnen was right that Silva doesn't want this fight. Thankfully, this is not boxing and a Floyd vs. Manny situation won't happen. The UFC would be crazy not to book this rematch as the next fight for both these guys. | |

He is a pussy. He should've been fighting at 205 for the past 3 years already instead of waiting for GSP to move up. |

| If Soares thought saying this was in anyway beneficial to his client he is fucked in the head. I still think Andersons gonna kick the shit out of Chael when they fight tho. | |

| Soares knows what everyone else knows. Chael is the biggest threat to Spider. He can handle almost anything Silva does and can do things that Spider can't stop. If the next fight goes like the first, Chael won't make the same mistake. Spider is scared, Soares knows it, and with this statement everyone knows it. | |

| GSP gets paid to win and that's all that matters. When Anderson stops hiding in the abyss that is the MW division I will respect him more. |

did he not go up and embarrass a former lhw champ b4 KOing Belfort and choking out chael? GSP meanwhile has NEVER ventured to a higher weight class.

| Silva walks around at 225 so he can easily make LHW. GSP walks around at 190 so he would be tiny at 185. Only Frankie Balboa does that. BTW Forrest was pissing himself before the fight. If Anderson wanted to test himself he should've fought a top 5 guy. |

You do realize that Anderson Silva was Griffin's first fight after losing the LHW title, right?

You do realize that Anderson Silva was Griffin's first fight after losing the LHW title, right? A title he didn't deserve the decision for anyway. Forrest's style is made perfect for Anderson. |

You do realize that Anderson Silva was Griffin's first fight after losing the LHW title, right? A title he didn't deserve the decision for anyway. Forrest's style is made perfect for Anderson. There are several ways Forrest Griffin can approach a fight. You make it seem like they made that fight because they knew Anderson would humiliate him in little time and Griffin would just run forward flailing punches like he did after he was rocked and got his jaw smashed. No. They made that fight because Griffin was the guy, in theory and based off his performances against the best LHW's in the UFC, that has all the tools to test Anderson and bring him into a battle that the fans have been wanting to see. He's multi faceted, agressive, and he'll bring the fight when the past couple opponents of Silva would not. Anything that happened over those next two minutes was pure magic and to this day one of, if not the slickest performances in MMA history. Everybody was stoked as hell for that fight but you're using revisionist history like it was Anderson and UFC cherry picking some borderline top 10, tied up goat in Jurassic Park tailor made fighter. That was not it at all. Griffin is a well rounded fighter, had just been the champion and WAS at the time, top 5. People saw and Silva win coming, because he's Anderson Silva and at the same time, there was not a LHW in that division anybody would pick against Silva except maybe some Lyoto fans(like me) as he was the man and seemingly untouchable(much like Jones is now) at that point.
