Hell yes! He gets the Edgar-Maynard winner off the bat.

I don't know if Showtime has started any promotion for Melendez-Masvidal yet, but if they have..it's unlikely UFC will be able to bring him over.

It would be great because who wouldnt want to see Gil fight the winner of Maynard and Edgar?

Good move for Gil, bad for the prospect of keeping Strikeforce on Showtime or at all.

I dont think SF is staying on either way though.

After the UFC purchased Strikeforce earlier this year, he hinted at the possibility but stopped short of saying there was a concrete plan.

Love it! I only hope somehow they have a LW grand prix and keep SF around. It would be nice to see Spike and SF work out.

I hope Frankie wins cause Gil vs Frankie is a fight I have wanted to see since before Frankie beat BJ. LW is the new LHW in the UFC.

this was expected. Gil will be a great edition to an already stacked division.

as for SF, another one bites the dust.

This has nothing to do with if SF is sticking. All the other champs are taken already so this would be expected.

To Wolf's point moving over SF Champions or top level fighters was really never going to be an indication of SF's impending demise, because if they were going to keep SF they weren't going to keep the top level talent there anyways. No point in stashing UFC caliber fighters in another lower level Org you own......In the end SF may not be kept, but moving Nick, Reem, Gil, Hendo over to the UFC isn't a huge signal for that. If Gina signed a UFC contract though...

Of course they should bring Gil over now, we all knew that was coming. Can't wait to see Gil wearing the ufc gloves. LW is completely stacked. Which is great for BJ because he's got options should he need to drop back down which he has talked about doing. Frankie vs BJ 3 the legend returns! This time it's personal lol

Penn doesn't get another rematch against Frankie. Maybe Penn vs Gilbert or Maynard if he drops down.

I don't think you can rule out a Frankie-BJ 3. The majority of people feel BJ won the first fight. At the very least it was an extremely competitive battle. Combine that with BJ being a former Champion(in 2 weight classes) and still proving to be a p4p great fighter. If BJ beats Nick he will be in line for a WW title shot. If he was to lose in a WW title fight, I wouldn't have a problem with his very next fight being for the LW title.

I also thought Fitch beat Penn. But the fact remains that Condit vs Penn was an OFFICIAL #1 contenders matchup and the winner of Diaz-Penn will be in line in front of Jon Dangerfield.
