I think Wolf did something similar not too too long ago.
Heavyweight - The first Pride Heavyweight champion crowned was Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira when he defeated Heath Herring. Nogueira would not lose a fight(and by default, his lineal title) until he faced Fedor Emelianenko. Emelianenko become the lineal and formal Pride Heavyweight champion with that victory.
Fedor's first loss after that would come at the hands of Fabricio Werdum in Strikeforce. Werdum would then go on to lose his lineal Pride Heavyweight title to Alistair Overeem the next year.
Current Pride Heavyweight Champion: Alistair Overeem
205/'Light Heavyweight' - Wanderlei Silva won the first Pride 205 title when he defeated Kazushi Sakuraba. Wanderlei's next loss at 205 would be to Ricardo Arona, who would then lose it right after to Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua. Rua would not lose a fight at 205 until his UFC debut against Forrest Griffin. Forrest then went on to unify the lineal Pride title with the UFC 205 title...where it has changed hands to Rashad Evans, Lyoto Machida, back to Shogun, and finally ended up with Jon Jones.
Meanwhile, the formal Pride 205 title was still held by Wanderlei until his knockout loss to Dan Henderson. That belt was unified with the same UFC 205 pound title that is now held by Jon Jones when Henderson came to the UFC and lost to Quinton Jackson.
Current Pride 205 pound Champion: Jon Jones
185/'Middleweight' - Dan Henderson won the Pride 185 pound grand prix and was crowned as their first 185 pound champion. Henderson would hold that belt formally until he lost to Anderson Silva and unified the title into the UFC 185 title.
Lineally, however, Henderson lost the title to Kazuo Misaki, who then lost it to Paulo Filho. Filho would hold the title until losing to Chael Sonnen in the WEC. Sonnen then lost it to Demian Maia in the UFC, who quickly lost it to Nate Marquardt, who then lost it back to Chael Sonnen. Sonnen lost it again, this time to Anderson Silva...unifying the lineal title with the UFC title.
Current Pride 185 pound Champion: Anderson Silva
Lightweight - Takanori Gomi won the Pride Lightweight Grand Prix to become the first Pride Lightweight Champion. He then lost the lineal title to Marcus Aurelio. Aurelio lost it to Mitsuhiro Ishida, who then lost it back to Takanori Gomi. Gomi would then lose to Nick Diaz, but the result was overturned to a NC. Some may be split over whether this mandates a change in the lineal title or not. Does the overturning of the result change the performance? Is Marijuana truly a performance enhancer anyway? Guys like Barnett kept their lineal titles despite jiucing simpyl because the result wasn't overturned. To keep from splitting hairs, we'll tackle both options.
If you believe it shouldn't count as a passage of the lineal title, Gomi would next actaully lose to Sergey Golyaev. Golyaev then lost it to Eijii Mitsuoka. Mitsuoka then lost it to Kazunori Yokota. Yokota would then lose it to Tatsuya Kawajiri. Kawajiri would then lose it to Shinya Aoki in July of 2010, and he has not lost since.
If however, you believe that despite the no contest, Diaz's winning performance over Gomi SHOULD be counted as a changing of the lineal title hat, then this is the line to follow. Diaz would lose the lineal lightweight title via cuts to KJ Noons. Noons would not lose at Lightweight until fighting Jorge Masvidal, who still holds the title and carries it into his Strikeforce Lightweight title fight with Gilbert Melendez.
Current Pride Lightweight Champion Option A: Shinya Aoki
Current Pride Lightweight Champion Option B: Jorge Masvidal
So there you have it, Pride's lineal champions: Alistair Overeem, Jon Jones, Anderson Silva, and Shinya Aoki/Jorge Masvidal. Make sure to come back for more lineal shenanigans!
