| I thought it was odd last week we he talked about moving to boxing instead of making a run in the UFC. Reem has more options then most MMA fighters. | |

| I understand the urgency to get the semi finals over with...but less than two months notice is pretty lame.
Also, if you take out Overeem the tournament is dead and the relationship with Overeem is badly strained. With Overeem's contractual commitments overseas he's not bound to Zuffa.Just seems not worth hurting the tournament and damaging a relationship with a guy you had a good one with over your own shitty booking.

| all he needed to do instead of making a big fuss is said he needs surgery on his big toe, and then once it is too late to do it in September say actually I can make a go of it, the UFC LHW champ didn't get cut for that, bam fight in October | |

This is why tournaments have alternates doood. There is still plenty of good left in the tournament. All this does is extend it one fight by having the winner face the REEM. Or it allows the Reem to go to the UFC as is and also creates another ready made title challenger with whoever wins out of the remaining field. I know it is disappointing, but it's aight yo.

I do recall this being hyped as the best tourney of all-time though. We're now looking at a Bigfoot-Cormier and Barnett-Sergei final 4. Doesn't look right

| The reason I was so excited for this grand prix was to see how Overeem would do against the top talent, what does this leave me with? Damn it all to bell! | |

| After thinking about this whole situation more I see it like this. I get the whole fan angle and disappointment that the guy most of us wanted to see most in the Prix is out, and that therefore kills a couple great potential matchups, Reem/Foot and Reem/Barnett or Serg. But looking at the SF Title and Prix winner situation, wasn't there a lot of confusion if Reem didn't come out the Prix winner? You have the most marketable guy in the tourney, who is the Champion, fighting in the tourney with the belt not on the line, what if he loses? Does the Prix winner then fight Reem who's coming off a loss? Does Reem still as SF HW Champion come over and fight Cain or JDS? There's a lot of hype potential if Reem wins it but a lot of inherent risk if he doesn't. It'll also strings things out longer if he doesn't come out on top. But now, with Reem out of the tourney and free for matchups, it leaves the door open for a move over to the UFC, and it couldn't come at a better time really. I mean ask yourself who the next HW challenger is in the UFC after Cain/JDS, Mir? Schuab? Nog? Brock? there is no one that intriguing in all reality. But with Reem in the mix, everything is setup for a huge matchup in early 2012, it couldn't be anymore perfect. Then the Prix winner could possibly be another challenger down the road. The reports that Reem had already been in negotiations for a new contract also seems telling to me. I get the disaapointment, but I think the end results could endup being better. Of course this all bears on Reem's next fight being in the UFC....Reem vs Prix winner or Fedor off a win would also make sense. | |
