| Fitch, Kos, and Swick have all asked for a fight with Hughes at some point....Hughes won't take the fight....why? I rank all 3 higher than Hughes...Hughes just signed a new deal, who is worthy to fight the great Matt Hughes? | |

| I don't know what's up with all the AKA guys calling him out. They would all beat him, maybe they just don't want to be asked to fight each other so Hughes is just the guy they want.
Hughes probably wants another shot at GSP which would be ridiculous.

I've heard the guys on Sherdog radio talk about Hughes turning down a fight with Kos. Haven't seen it reported online, though.

Interiew of Swick by CagePotato: ...Speaking of Koscheck, I thought it was kind of odd that he called out Hughes after beating Frank Trigg. You've been trying to get that fight with Hughes for months now. "We knew he wasn't going to take the fight before we called him out. We -- me and Fitch -- actually told Koscheck to do that. Fitch has asked for him before and then I asked for him and the UFC told me I wasn't going to get that fight. So before Koscheck's fight we were talking and we just said, "Hey, why don't you try it and see if he'll fight you.""It almost sounds like you guys don't even want to fight him so much as you just want to keep after him for not taking a fight with one of you. Like it's become a game in itself at this point. "It is. There's no real motivation anymore to fight him. We know he's not going to agree to it. It's just a game now. He won't take a fight with any of us and we're just going to keep continuously calling him out."It'd be interest to hear Hughes' spin on things here...

| There is a difference between "calling someone out" and that fight being offered to Hughes by the UFC. | |

| Here is what Hughes has on his site
I find Koscheck calling me out kind of interesting and I actually don’t know why he is doing that. I was used to kids doing this when I was the champ, but as you know I don’t have the belt now and I’m puzzled as to why Koscheck wants to fight me and not the champion in the weight class. I have no interest in fighting Koscheck and, as he was showing everybody, he’s just a kid. As of yet, the UFC has never come to me and asked me to fight him.

| Kos isn't going to be offered the champion....so why not go after a former champ and legend, if Hughes fails to see the logic in that then he's either in denial or stupid. | |

| Paul Daley wants Hughes too now. I'm sure Hughes will ask for a rematch with Serra or Lytle. | |

Now this is a fight I want to see. Yes Daley has quick, quick hands and is a well rounded striker, but as soon as Hughes gets his hands on him (shoot or clinch) its going down and probably staying there.

| It's becoming like three bullies ganging up on the booger eater. Question is, does the booger eater have enough game or even the balls to shut any of them up? | |

| Out of Kos, Fitch, and Swick I think Hughes best chance is Fitch. Which weird because I think Fitch is the clear #1 of those 3. Stylistically I think Hughes can get into a wrestling match with Fitch and can hold his own even with the size disadvantage. I feel like Swick and Kos's speed will be too much for Hughes to overcome. | |

| Not as if any of these guys could contend with Hughes five years ago on their best day. This is absurd. | |

| Oh shit, mark day and time... Wolf and I are in agreement...
Farmer, I think if Hughes were to get Swick down it would get ugly fast. Kos and Fitch could both hold their own with Hughes on the ground, IMO.

| Good point about Swick. Yall are probably right. Hughes just has to avoid Swick's hands to get it there.
Matt just hasn't had a good performance in the cage in some time. I went back and watched Hughes-Trigg II for the 500th time and it is just as exciting as ever, but it really really has been a long time since Hughes-Penn II in 06...the last dominating Hughes performance.

That fight was about as dominating as Forrest Griffin's win over Shogun.

| Dominating, no. But it's the last time that Hughes looked like Hughes. You have to consider the opponent and how that fight went... | |

| The win over Serra, ugly as it may, was a good victory. Serra is no slouch.
Hughes didn't pitch the shut out due to a headbutt, not a strike. I could see him beating top ten guys still.

| Penn gassed and Hughes absolutely destroy him. BJ was getting picked apart on the feet, got taken down, guard passed, put in a crucifix, and then got his unprotected face nailed about 10+ times. Yeah I would call that dominating. | |

| But Penn injured himself stopping takedowns, so in a way he really won that fight, just like all BJ Penn's fights he lost but really should have won....
meh not as cool without any true old school BJ nuthuggers around.
