| Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White told The Times his organization has struck verbal deals for Anderson Silva to defend his middleweight championship against Vitor Belfort on Jan. 2 in Las Vegas. Rumored card so far: - Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort - Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2009/9/25/1055366/anderson-silva-vs-vitor-belfort
The news years show is always the best. This year looks no different with these 2 fights co headlining.

| That fight should be sick as hell. I hope Vitor puts him out. | |

| Anderson is the "smart" money, but Vitor has an element to his game that makes him dangerous in any fight, case in point his last two, where by rights he should have lost both, but he over whelmed them at the first exchange with huge speed and punching power.
Lindland and Franklin are not spider though...

Lindland and Franklin are not spider though... why should Vitor have lost both of his last 2 fights. Vitor losing to Lindland is semi comical.

| A) Belofort doesn't deserve the title shot. It's a slap in the face to Dan Henderson. I wouldn't be surpirised to see him fight elsewhere now. Looks like Dana has ruined another relationship. B) Belfort is getting ktfo | |

Lindland was just old and overwhelmed. A younger Law probably decisions Vitor too.

B) Belfort is getting ktfo A) Since losing to Anderson Hendo had wins over Palhares, Franklin (controversial), & Bisping. Since moving to MW Vitor Belfort had wins over Martin, Lindland, & Franklin. Looking at these guy recent fights you can't really give either an edge and if you do it is Vitor based on recent wins. The fact the Hendo already had a chance should factor in. You really cannot fault the UFC for giving Vitor the title shot over Dan and this is coming from a pretty big Hendo fan. B) You're probably right because Anderson is a BAMF

| Hendo should be fighting Marquardt. Anderson already beat them both, let's see him fight someone new before he retires. | |

| I agree. While both have put on stellar performances since losing to Silva, the fact remains that both Hendo and Marquard fought and lost to Silva already. Hendo has been busy fighting 2 fights at light heavyweight in the meantime to boot. They should fight one another and give Vitor a shot at Silva in the meantime.
The point is we need to have a division left when Silva hangs it up after his next four fights are done and his contract is up. This will help ensure that. Win or lose, Belfort will remain in the top5 of the Middleweight division, while Henderson and Marquardt will be right about where they're at now.

At the time Lindland was ranked among the top 5 MW's, 8-2 in his last 10 fights, his losses coming to Fedor, the best fighter in the World and a HW, and Rampage a LHW and top 2-5 one at that, he was the favorite going into that fight.

| I kind of agree with oggy that Vitor might not deserve the shot but who cares i really want to see it lol. It reminds me alittle of Brock vs Randy. Brock had no business getting a shot but that dont mean people wont watch. | |

| It can't be any worse than Forrest vs. Anderson. I think Anderson will put on a clinic but I hope I'm wrong. I'd LOVE to see Anderson get challenged. Vitor's going to rush Anderson to early and get KO'd IMO. | |

| The reason this fight is awesome is because Anderson has been dominating people with his hands. Against Belfort it's not going to be as easy. They both have Pro boxing experience and wins. Both have pretty good chins and fast hands. If you ask me because of styles this fight is a toss up. | |

Anderson has been using his hands, along with his knees, elbows and feet, to dominate with a mixture of high level boxing, karate, and muay thai skills. His clinch game is just as much apart of his UFC career as his boxing. Vitor uses "hands".
