| http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2009/10/13/1084127/anderson-silva-doesnt-think-vitorSteven Marrocco gets the story for MMA Weekly: (Anderson Silva's manager Ed) Soares maintains a title eliminator between Nate Marquardt and Dan Henderson is the most logical idea for Silva's next contender, given their recent victories and Henderson's 2007 win over Belfort in PRIDE Fighting Championships. He first pitched the idea to White following UFC 102 in August, but White did not commit. They also are complaining since Belfort had trouble making 195lbs for his UFC 103 fight against Rich Franklin: Soares believes Belfort's weight issues may persist should his fighter accept the fight. "Vitor has not fought in the UFC at 185 pounds," he said. "Now, I know people can say Anderson fought for the belt after one fight, and that's true, but he fought at 185 pounds. At 195 pounds, he didn't make weight, at first. So he couldn't make weight at 195 pounds, but now he's going to fight for the title at 185 pounds?" On top of that, Silva's elbow surgery apparently discovered more complications and may prevent Anderson from fighting at UFC 108 at all: "It's doctor's decision," he added in English. "My elbow is hurt, but doctor Chad says come back to training, come back to fight." On Wednesday, the champion is scheduled to begin physical therapy after getting his surgery stitches removed. Soares says a decision on Silva's fight-readiness will be made in 10 days. | |

| Fucking Christ! Lets just give Ed Soares, Joe Silva's job. I hope whoever gets the next crack at Anderson, knocks him the fuck out the instant he lowers his hands and does that stupid bobbing and weaving shit. | |

| I don't understand all the smokescreens Ed and Anderson put out there. Is there an elbow injury or not? Does he want the biggest fights or doesn't he? Is he retiring or is he going to boxing? And on and on and on... | |

| He's got a point though If Blefort can't make weight for 195lb how's he going to make 185lb ?
As you get older losing weight becomes difficult because your metabolism slows down. |

| Vitor made weight twice recently. Let that be his responsibility to bear, unless this is just some trash talk, like "Vitor doesn't deserve the title shot since Hendo beat him in '06."
Besides the 195 weight was a joke. I wouldn't have cared to make weight either. There's no title or even the prospect of a 195 title on the line.
I thought Anderson wanted to fight more anyway?
Soares is probably taking his cues from Vadim Finklestein on how to screw with MMA fans. The dude is lucky enough to be friends and scrape a bit off the top of the world's greatest fighters. Now take a backseat and let them work.

| About Vitor not making weight. If you watch the video blog from the fight, you can see that it was a problem with the scale he used in the hotel. | |

| I agree with anderson's manager. Hendo is more deserving than Belfort. However I think the reason Anderson's camp is making a big stink about this fight is because they're concerned about some things belfort brings to the table. Belfort has incredible power for 185. That said, belfort was dominated by Hendo in PRIDE even though this is a different Belfort. I don't know why Anderson's camp would care about fairness, that's hendo's concern. | |

| So he would rather fight a guy he has already beat...
I guess I will give him the benefit of the doubt and say he does not want another Lutter situation where his title defense does not count.

' Styles make fights. Belfort doesn't have to be worried about being taken down by Anderson. As for him not making 185 lb, he just made it 2 fights ago against Lindland.
