UFC 112 - Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort in the works for Abu Dhabi

A middleweight title clash between champion, Anderson Silva and challenger, Vitor Belfort is reportedly in the works to headline UFC 112 on April 10th when the promotion visits Abu Dhabi for the first time.

Carlos Santos, leader of Emirates Team, spoke to Tatame Magazine and revealed both men had been in contact recently about using his training facility in the build up to the event.

Silva is coming off recent elbow surgery to remove fragments of bone. Prior to that he had put in an effortless performance against former 205 pound champion, Forrest Griffin, repeatedly knocking the ex-police officer to the ground in the first round before the referee stepped in.

As for Belfort, he returned to the UFC with a bang after a number of years away, stopping former 185 pound champ, Rich Franklin in the first round in September. The promotion decided that this warranted “The Phenom” leapfrogging the rest of the division and made him number one contender.

Seems like Anderson hasn't had a fight in forever, I'm ready to see him fight again.

This isn't happening....I remember when the UFC was getting ready for a card in the Phillippines.....They aren't doing this fight or any fight in Abu Dahbi

This locale would make perfect sense for the UFC as it would introduce the organization to the Middle East; just the fact that MMA is already big in Abu Dhabi along with there is already a venue in place makes this a natural for future UFC events.

Now if he holds a good camp and trains hard and shows up lookin great to his weigh-in I may have to sway my pick.

Call me an idiot for it, but I think he has as good a punchers chance as anyone taking on Silva.

I got Vitor as my #14 in my P4p rankings currently, and I really do believe he has a decent shot in this one if Silva doesnt respect him.

He's either the 1st or 2nd biggest threat to Anderson (depending on where you rank Hendo) since he's been in the UFC. I can't wait to see this fight
