Maybe you missed the post where I called this a good call for pretty much the same reasons you named. It allows Gina to get back in the groove and also gets both woman a recent win setting up a fight for them. Noob.

Isn't Carano-Cyborg still the highest rated SF ever on Showtime? Gina is a star. She belongs on the main card every fight no matter who the opponent

I don't think Gina should be off the main card, I think she should have a meaningful opponent. Other than Cyborg, she is still the baddest bitch in MMA.

Normally I'd agree but she hasn't trained for over a year while she was making much more money in a major Hollywood flick. Sarah is a good tune up. Do you not believe in ring rust or the validity of tune up fights?

It depends, if the rust and time off is injury related, then there are concerns. She took time off for other ventures, but does that mean she isn't in shape and can't get to work and train for a fight like normal? Hard to say. Also mental could be more to over come than physical. I think rust can be an excuse but not a great reason.

No matter the reason, ring rust is real. Especially for a striker who depends on timing and the like. For a while Gina was not training at all. She needs a tune up after the Cyborg fight and lay off. If I was her manager I'd never sign to fight someone with the power of Nunes off such a lay off, unless I hated my client and wanted to see her fail.

Ring Rust can be real, but you cannot assume it is universal to every individual, especially one who is not coming off a major injury. Carano is aggressive and has only training in front of her which should be more intense than the fight itself. I think her biggest problem will be making weight, not a problem exclusive to rust, and it could effect her if she can't make it but tries too hard to. But regardless, she will have some rust. Facts don't lie. But I still think her and Nunes would battle. I just don't care if Nunes is good enough to beat her, if she is, she should.

I want to see the best fighters fight at their best, and as a fan I would feel it a disservice to me if Gina was given a top three 145 opponent off a two fucking year lay off where she didn't train. I am not buying into this "Gina is immune to skill atrophy and ring rust" thing you speak of. Especially when Rampage and Cung Le have both shown rust issues after filming movies. They make you soft according to page. Give her a suitable tune up to get back into form, then let her face the best.

I never said Carano is immune to anything, only that the ring rust is not a predetermined conclusion for every fighter who has not had a match for however long. There is an equal disservice in feeding fighters safety fights under an assumption their ability has degraded based on not having a match. If Gina wrecks that chick like nothing, what do you get? It's her crushing an none known fighter. Hopefully Sarah....... Sarah ... yeah, is a gamer and knocks Carnao right on her ass in the first minutes and makes it into a competitive fight, but who here knows, right? As a fan I wouldn't of wanted to Rampage vs Steve Cantwell or Cung Le vs Kevin Casey based off that assumption. What rust there is or isn't is speculation which isn't the main basis for me on what someone is capable of. I expect Gina to have some sort of issue related to her time out of competition, but not much, nor do I think it would make her a big dog against Nunes. Nunes and Carano would scrap no matter what, that's their style. Carano is bigger and hits every bit as hard if not harder.

Well, Carano has two real KO's/TKO's besides one doctor stoppage and those came in her first and second fights, and the one legit KO was against Rosie Sexton who is most famous for being knocked out by Frausto at 120 pounds in Bellator(that is a literal exact replay of an old Tank Abbott KO though, sweet as hell). Nunes however has nothing but TKO's or KO's in on her record. Nunes clearly hits harder. Nunes is one of the hardest hitting ladies I have ever seen and clearly hits harder.

Nunes had dropped to 135 before Carano's return was even announced. She isn't in Carano's weight class now. She is also fighting someone ranked higher than Carano and in the top ten in two weight classes.

Ring rust in this situation is a foregone conclusion. If you have ever done anything and not done it for two years, then tried it again, I am confident you would understand. In the real universe where both you and I reside a situation where Carano was just as sharp and frosty as she was when she left is close to an impossibility. If she was in Cyborgs position where she was training the entire time, fine, but Gina at one point didn't go to the gym for nine or more months according to her head trainer at the time Randy Couture. There is no way she is 100%. She was no where near fight shape at the start of this camp.

What if Carano crushes her? Fantastic. I want that to happen. Gina needs at least two good camps and fights to be ready for Cyborg again. A tune up, then a contender at 45 or a top caliber 35'r like the Julie/Amanda winner or even Sarah Kaufman, then Cyborg should be her fight itinerary for the next year or so.

Tate is first in line at 135 due to her tournament win and promised shot, but by rights Kedzie and Nunes should be fighting for a title shot, however neither of these ladies want a single thing to do with that bitch.

With that landscape the winner fighting for a title in their next fight is as possible as Cyborg maybe taking fights outside of SF.

They were talking about getting Erin toughill in there to fight her like a year ago after the Finley fight, but here we are a year later and Toughill Lost a fight last month.

That bitch is fucking nutty. She however was pretty sick coming off a two year lay off and very rusty. If she actually sticks to a signed fight and fights more than once a leap year than she could potentially threaten with her punching ability. Doubt it though.

They'd have to pay some bitches serious cash. Aint nobody want a piece of that right now. Nunes' manager said he wants her to take three fights at 35 before she faces Cyborg. Three fights and she's probably the 35 pound champion. Nunes is ducking Cyborg but I can't really blame her because Cyborg is a natural 155'r and Nunes a 135'r.

That's why never getting Toughill avtive for them has hurt, she is big.

SF tried to get her fights actually. She backs out and comes up with weird reasons to not fight often. She is a drama queen and the center of attention and may even have a small case of Munchausen.
