UFC 127 thoughts

Excellent card. It's amazing that the cards from top the bottom that look meh on paper deliver more often than the cards that look amazing top to bottom.

First things first. I'm OK with the draw. I'm not OK with one of the judges scoring Fitch the fight because if that fight had a winner...it was BJ Penn. If you decide not to give Fitch a 10-8 round which i'm OK with them doing since Penn did virtually nothing, though i don't buy Fitch's offense in the round...you can do it i guess, but anybody who gave Fitch round 1 or round 2 is eitheir A) A dumbshit B)A Penn hater C) A Penn hater AND a dumbshit.

Penn came out with a surprise strategy which i'm not so sure he needed in this fight. He spent more energy trying to grind Fitch than he spent trying to keep Fitch from grinding him, but he beat Fitch in the first 2 rounds by pretty much Fitching him, but he blew himself out and Fitch simply does not get blown out. That's pretty much the fight. BJ won rounds 1-2 but there is just too strong of an arguement for a 10-8 in round 3 for Fitch, hence the draw. My brother drew an interesting point though..if Fitch-Penn round 3 was 10-8 than Maynard-Edgar II round 1 was a 10-6 but thats distinguishing that MMA's judges just arent ready for yet.

In a rematch, Penn should fight his fight though. Fitch was not able to take him down when he was fresh and Penn being the one who instigated the Fitch-ness in round 1 may only have himself to blame for gassing. Good fight that warrants a rematch but no way Fitch won that fight. BJ had plenty of effective scoring in round 1 and 2. Fitch pretty much had a takedown to show for the first 2 rounds and thats just going by my own scoring criteria which is mainly effective scoring..lame 10 point must system..Penn or draw.

Bisping is a dickwad. He threw an intentional illegal knee..not even a peice of shit "bloke" like him could fail to see that he was clearly down. Thats all i have to say about that. Not impressed by his performance in the least bit, i'm disgusted by it. That is not even taking into account his actions post fight.

Siver looked good. He's been in the UFC for such a long time but i hardly seen him. I thought you could have scored the last 2 rounds for Sot, but those were really close, but NOTHING he did in the last 2 rounds made up for the 1st round onslaught that Siver put on him. Sot will be back.

Lytle-Ebebson was great. We were all talking at the viewing party i was at how goofy this fuckin guy was but that guy knew what he was doing. Lytle just never really recovered from that big knee.

how did he not OU? He landed the most effective strikes in round 2. He took him down. Took his back. He was on the offensive for the majority of the round

In that round, Fitch turned a flying knee attempt into a takedown that led to NOTHING unless BJ standing up is something...and reversed BJ on his back into BJ's guard and landed a Fitchian gnp strikes(weak) before the round ended. BJ not only did more by way of scoring, he was on the offensive for the majority of the round. It was not as strong as the 1st but it was still a BJ round to anybody not looking for any small reason to score it Fitch. I don't see how you could give it to Fitch.

Brilliant fight by both BJ & Fitch. BJ won 1st 2 rnds. Fitch won 3rd 10-8. Amazing what BJ did technically tonight. Fitch = gamebred.

You could say that, but people can turn around and say that "about as manypeople here hate BJ's guts" and it would rhyme with that...and it would be right. They would find a way to give Fitch the second round. That mighty takedown at the beginning of the round that made Australia shake won him round 2(sarcasm)

good thing two judges saw what i'm sure the majority of fans watching saw. Penn wins 2 rounds, Fitch clearly dominates round 3 for a draw.
