| With a healthy Bynum you may be right, if they could get Birdman in on the deal, then it's a no brainer, just Melo and considering a healthy Bynum it's debatable. | |

| They will need size inside to deal with Duncan and the larger Celtics in the late postseason I think. | |

| Bynum is nothing special, a solid player but they can find a suitable replacement. Not very many Melo's out there. I think no question Kobe-Melo-Pau is better for the next 5 or so years, no question. | |

| Getting Melo would give them a different dimension though, antoher scorer outside shooter. Size is a factor, that's why adding a Birdman in the deal and giving them Joe Smith's expiring contract is a safer play for LA. And no one is a afraid on Duncan, he's older now and they have size issues past him just the same, it's be Boston with Perkins, KG, Shaq which we'd have to worry about. | |

| Bynum is 22 and a 7 footer, both things make him very valuable. He's also shown flashes of being right in there with the better C's in the league. | |

Yeah he is a very solid player with value. He just isn't anything special in terms of talent. Don't get me wrong I'd die to have him in OKC, but he isn't a game changer, he isn't some superstar. Just a very solid player.

| Duncan doesn't get the stat line, but he facilitates success from the inside, similar but not equal to the impact a guy like KG has for Boston. It's a big reason the Spurs have been as stout as they have been. | |

| You haven't watched him enough if you say he isn't special in terms of talent, when healthy at his best he's played like a top 3 center in the league.
The only nack on Bynum is health issues.

I'll point out that this statement applies to this season only. Long term they can add the right pieces from losing a big like Bynum. This season though, I don't think they repeat.

Duncan's minutes are way way down this year, his impact is very minimal to years past, he's getting like 13 and 8 this year and shooting a career low FG%. Anytime you get a 7 footer in the paint you anchor the defense, especially when it's a guy like Duncan even at this point in his career. Past Duncan though, they aren't deep at all, Gasol alone can handle Duncan, the rest would be pretty much even, add Birdman, LA would still have the size edge. The Spurs are so good this season because of overall depth at most positions, though Lakers in 6 without HC.

The only nack on Bynum is health issues. He is solid, but nothing special.

| LOL when was Bynum an all-star? Westbrook has been productive since the second he was drafted. He has already had more success then Bynum, be real. | |

| Until this season Bynum has posted better numbers in terms of PER in their previous seasons. | |

Westbrook plays more minutes, is more valuable for his team, hell the Lakers would be better with Westbrook then with Bynum. He is a better player now and will continue to be. Bynum is a very solid player like I said.

| PG's don't really fit in the triangle, but until this season, if GMs were asked who they'd rather have it would have been Bynum, size kills bro. You probably haven't seen a healthy Bynum play enough. And Bynum's size was very important to the last 2 Titles, it impacted the series in ways Westbrook could not. I'd rather have Westbrook, but Bynum's potential is very very high. | |

I know big men have value and I agree on the market he is probably in bigger demand, I mean there are a ton of great PGs out there in the league today(might be best ever) and plenty are young. So in that since Westbrook isn't "special", but I do think Westbrook is more talented. Like you said Westbrook on the Lakers would be scary. A big, young, explosive PG is the last thing I want to see in purple and gold.

| I'd do this in a second obviously. Its time to deal Bynum. I like having the size in there but this fucker tweaks something in his knee once every 5 damn games and he's still young. That ain't going to get any better | |
