Marcos Maidana vs DeMarcus " Chop Chop " Corely set for August 28th

The Argentine knockout artist Marcos "El Chino" Maidana will defend his interim WBA super lightweight crown against DeMarcus "Chop Chop" Corley of America on Saturday August 28 at Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as revealed by the daily sports Olé.

This is the third title defense for Maidana (28-1, 27 KOs), who won the crown by knocking out Victor Ortiz in Los Angeles and then beat William Gonzalez and Victor Cayo.

The experienced Corley (37-13-1, 22 KOs) was a world WBO super lightweight champion between June 2001 and July 2003, when he was dethroned by "Super" Zab Judah. After that he unsuccessfully challenged the Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto (for the WBO title) and Junior Witter for the vacant WBC crown.

He also faced Floyd Mayweather Jr., Devon Alexander, Jose Alfaro and others within the division.

Not a Maidana fan, big fan of Chop Chop, Corley has been fucked recently I saw him beat some prospect on ESPN and someone on a PPV undercard a year or so ago feel sorry for him, hope he wins it that would make my night

good tune-up for Maidana, hopefully he can get his managment/promotional issues sorted out and whoop Khan's ass this year.

He fought in March, he needs a tune up? Five months is normal for a guy to go without a fight. He needs to fight Bradley.

I don't mind Maidana wanting to keep active, at least he's facing an experienced veteran and not some no name can.

Chop Chop is ranked 79th in the division and lost two of his last three to a guy ranked 38th and 50th as per boxrec. The last guy he beat is ranked 250th in the division. He's also 36 and has 51 tough fights.

Gary Lockett won 90% of his fights with a snarl and Vanda wins with impressive tattoo's. I guess Chop Chop's "The Fly" Costume puts him right along with these guys.

I think Maidana is just happy to be done with his promotional issues. Wants to get back in the ring and get a nice pick me up, then he'll try to get a big name.

Yea, I think he's taking the tune up to get his mind right. Everything he went through probably took his focus some. It's a smart thing to get resettled before stepping up to take the biggest fights of your career.

a payday and staying active..it should be a ko over a over the hill fighter with a name of the past..
