Frank Mir to 205?

Not only does Machida beat Mir, he completely embarrasses him.

Mir wouldn't be able to get a hold of Machida to take him down, and if he did, I still don't think he could.

Mir should be advocating for a cruiserweight division.

Thinking about 205 after just weighing in at 265 is the move of a fighter in desperate search of an identity.

Yeah i think Mir is looking for anything to stay rellevant at this point. He isnt strong enough for HW and isnt skilled enough at LHW.

He'd get beat there aswell, Cain, Dos Santos....

Mir vs Cain or Dos Santos should be happening soon. Mir would still be a huge win for either of these guys at this stage.

Cain's sitting out till he gets his title shot and Dos Santos is facing fatboy.

I am surprised a Big Nog rematch hasn't already been made, it's a no brainer right now.

I'd pick either guy to beat him too, but that's beside point,

Cain isnt going to sit out all the way to Christmas is he?? Thats probably when the next title fight will be.

Ring rust will be a factor for Cain. I hope he doesn't leave the gym between now and then. Lucky for him he will be able to train simiarly for either fighter since both are giant wrestlers.

Mir should fight Gonzaga next.

Thats why i said i hated the fact that they were benching Cain but everyone jumped down my throat about how they needed a back-up plan in case Carwin or Lesnar got injured. Cain is taking a huge break from competing, and for a young guy who is still trying to improve that is a very bad thing.

It's a business decision, the UFC have two title fights in the bank, why risk screwing that up ?

Cain also brings a Mexican fanbase to the table, they'll be able to promote how Cain could become the first Mexican champ.

I hate the matchups of Brock and Carwin for Cain regardless.

Cain should be fighting and improving. I felt and still do that he should have fought JDS in a number 1 contender fight. I know it's business, and just hate to see the fighters suffer for a business decision.

I completely agree with you.

That is way to much of a lay off for Cain.

You don't want Cain and Jr fighting eachother because it kills a contender in a weak weightclass. You want to build them up seperately, this is why Bones and Bader aren't fighting eachother and that's a strong division.

yea, like i said that i understand the business part of it, just dont agree with it.

They dont have to fight each other LA I just think 1 should fight Mir cause they would probably win and it is still a huge win for a young contender.

LA, in terms of weak or strong or whatever, 205 and 265 have about the same number of true contenders, and I'd argue 265 may have more.

I dont think either is weak right now at all. Both have a ton of contenders who could win or lose on any givin night.

But future contenders is LHW all day

LHW has a lot of sell now guys. Little Nog, who is a fighter I was pretty high on, may have been slightly exposed. Cane is gone. Hamill is no contender. Only Bader and Jones have real potential. Evans is good but can't survive even running into a knee on accident, so he will be KO'd badly many times in his career, Rampage has slowed and the game is adapting to him, Forrest is done, Jardine is done, Liddell is done, Wandy is done, Franklin never was.

HW however has JDS, Nelson, Cain and of course Carwin all lined up, in addition to Duffee if he can get back on track.

205 isn't as stacked as it used to be.

I think hwy is underated, and LHW gets a huge edge(in this discussion) cause almost all the big names are in the UFC.

But bottom line to me is, that at this stage in his career, after just weighing in at 265, and having not cut weight in his MMA career(ever?) a move to 205 is so radical that it's hard but to doubt Mir's chances there.
