Yeah it's been settled, Wolf. These guys gassed out and Mo was STILL able to crank a double leg anytime he wanted to.

wrestling is the single greatest survival Martial arts in the world.

If your a KB and your hurt or gassed your done

bjj- even in guard and hurt or gassed you can be finished

On top of someone nad have decent instincts = survive

Does Machida have a wrestling base? How bout Spider? Penn? Fedor? Good fighters are good fighters. King Mo was better at what he did best than Gegard was at what he did best.

On paper BJJ > Sambo, but Fedor would steamroll any BJJ guy. Hell, Machida looks more like a karate guy than anything else and he's the #1 or 2 LHW in the world and Karate is supposed to suck in MMA. There's alot of Wrestlers in MMA because there's a lot of Wrestlers. What if every high school in america had a BJJ team or Judo team?

That said guys like Brock, Hughes and GSP (even though he didn't start out as a wrestler) are greats and can't be denied. But they are great fighters because they are great athletes and train hard. It's more about the fighter and less about the martial art. JMO

gegard had what it seemed, no take down defense what so ever .. not to mention he looked slow and stood seriously 1 - 2 feet away from him.. not to mention King Mo gassed in the very first round

Machida has a Sumo background (i havnt ever seen him sumo, just what I have heard/read), has excellent TDD and keeps his distance ..

Aoki definitely dropped WAY down the list of 55ers. He doesn't have a good takedown and his standup is horrible. He was exposed by Melendez, big time.

Well obviously that's true, but I had him ranked at the very least in the top 3 of LWs in the world...not now. He's probably not even top 10.

Plus he was in a cage. The one time he got a hold of him and went for rubber guard, Melendez just put him right up against the fence and he couldn't do anything. If they were to make a rematch in Dream (like they were planning on doing) I still think there's a solid shot that Aoki subs him

if aoki had his normal fight pants on .. he would have locked in that first triangle attempt.. dead serious.

That is a good point Bobbit but honestly I don't know how he has survived this long by just pulling guard and fighting off his back and subbing people. He's obviously still a great submission artist but if you have to fight in a ring and you have to have your pants on then to me you're just not as good as guys who are game anywhere anytime.

Agreed on both accounts on Bigs. I'm shocked that he hasn't gotten his ass beat more than he actually has
