well, i must say..that sucks
but as we know, there arent many options and we don't know the availibility of the better options(Sergei, Duff)...and a few of the better options Fedor has already beat.
I wonder why M-1 won't have any of their younger HW's fight Fedor. They have a few HW in house, that are not well known but are pretty good and likely better than Rizzo at this point. They are scrapping the barrell for familiar names but all the familiar names are over the hills and far away.

Because M-1 is putting all their stock into Guram for the future and right now Fedor would beat him.
When Fedor is actually ready to retire he will fight Guram and lose. Passing the torch in the process.

Both Barnett and Cromier defend Fedor vs Rizzo bout:
Barnett-
Quote:
What are you going to do?â Barnett told ESPN.com. âWould you rather see [Emelianenko] not fight at all? At the end of the day, itâs not always up to Fedor. Donât believe Pedro was the only guy asked.
âSo, whatâs the other option? How about he just sits around for another six months?â
Cromier-
Quote:
âThereâs just not that many guys who would be OK,â Cormier said. âIf they said, âHeâs fighting Rolles Gracie,â people would say he [Gracie] got beat by Joey [Beltran] and flushed out of the UFC. If it were Bobby Lashley, theyâd say heâs just a pro wrestler who got beat by Chad Griggs.
âItâs always going to be something. The best guys are under the Zuffa umbrella. [Emelianenko] is not -- so he doesnât have much to choose from.

LOL same song and dance for the Fedor nuthuggers trying to justify everything.
The same thing could be said exactly about the Fedor Haters trying to add a negative spin to everything like yourself.
I consider myself Fedor neutral. He is past his prime and he is fighting no bodies outside of Zuffa now. Even in his prime he mixed in a few cans. He was still the ebst HW on the planet for a long time.
I am sorry but Pedro Rizzo is not a nobody....he was a legend back in the day. That's like saying Mo Smith or Ken Shamrock are nobodies becasue they are past their prime. Pedro beat Barnett, prime Coleman, prime Severn, prime Ricco, AA, and Monson twice. That's a very, very good resume. Is Rizzo past his prime? Yes Is Fedor past his prime? According to you Yes.
So we have a past his prime fighter vs another past his prime...whats the problem?
Rizzo's prime was over 10 years ago. He is from the dark ages of MMA. Beating him means nothing.
Fedor is past his prime, but I don't consider him washed up. He should still be challenging guys in the top 10 IMO, but he's stuck fighting no one worth while. I'd rather see him not fight at all.

There was a rumor a few months back that Fedor would fight the GP winner...becuase the agreement is that the GP winner will have another fight in Strikeforce..and this was said AFTER UFC took all their HW. I think Showtime(who still works with M-1) wants to put Fedor vs. GP Winner because Fedor has drawn viewers for them and it's a main event fight. I think it's funny that it's Josh and Cormier in particular to stand up for this matchup and keep Fedor's credibility up amongst the haters or people growing weary. Maybe Fedor will fight the winner in Strikeforce..but i doubt Zuffa will let that happen and i doubt the GP winner has another fight even if there is an agreement. They'll probably get cut from Strikeforce for some inexcusable offense and get signed by UFC a week later.

"A lot of my stories are usually weird stuff from after parties that you really canât talk about but going to Japan a lot you really learn about a lot of different people. You see Jake Shields over there all the time, you see Gilbert Melendez over there all the time and itâs just a weird situation when youâre in this foreign land with all of these Americans but the most interesting thing was drinking vodka with Fedor. [We] are sitting there in the hotel bar and weâre talking and weâre having a great time and all of a sudden I realize that this fool speaks English. I was like âCome on man, youâre really going to pull this?â Itâs not good English or clear English but you can definitely understand it enough to talk to him. He was just like âNah, I donât like doing it because I donât feel comfortable on the microphoneâ and we were just talking for five minutes in a straight English conversation without a translator. Then he goes âYou know it's funnyâ and I go âWhatâs that?â and he says âThe more you drink vodka, the better you think your Russian is.â That was when I first started realizing how the world works."

When we were doing it, it was a lot more about just going out and fighting. I hate hearing in a UFC corner âyou won the first four rounds, just stay away from him this round.' The guy doesn't have a knockout punch, hasn't taken you down the whole fight, why do you have to go be afraid of him? Go out and win! Make it exciting, go knock him out, finish the fight."-Iceman
Former Pride champion Fedor Emelianenko speculated openly that his next bout, against Brazilian veteran Pedro Rizzo on June 21 in St. Petersburg, Russia, may be his last. Emelianenko spoke to the press assembled for a press conference yesterday in Russia and told them that the Rizzo fight may be his last.
The Russian news site Rianovosti quoted Fedor as saying, "I think it's time to call it a day. This fight may be my last one."
Emelianenko has fought twice since being cut by Strikeforce, racking up a decision win over Jeff Monson and finishing Satoshi Ishii on New Year's Eve in Japan.
Prior to that Emelianenko lost three straight fights in Strikeforce. First he was submitted by Fabricio Werdum and then TKO'd by Antonio Silva and Dan Henderson. Prior to losing to Werdum, Emelianenko hadn't lost an MMA bout in over a decade.

It truly is a shame that he never once got to compete in the UFC, butI am hoping that in the future, when M-! Global falls apart, that they can reconcile and he can be involved with the organization.
