Third event scheduled for November not on Spike or PPV

So what the fuck does that mean, discuss?
"UFC president Dana White on Thursday said a third UFC event was in the works for November, featuring a headlining bout between lightweight champion B.J. Penn and Diego Sanchez.

What may really peak interest is that he said the event was neither a pay-per-view nor a Spike televised affair, lending credence to strong speculation of a long coveted network television deal.

"Wait and see boys... if I can pull this one off," he said."

I'm thinking ESPN. A new direction for Friday Night Fights, maybe? Or maybe a Saturday Night Fights type of deal?

This doesn't bode well for Strikeforce.

The only way Strikeforce can counter this is if they get a network like USA or TBS or something available in many American homes so they can launch counter programming of UFC events of their own.

well that sucks, I though maybe they could do events on both FSN and Fox. Would a deal with TBS also include TNT?

Fox is not Fox News. Have you ever watched the kind of stuff they put on Fox?

What American Idol? Cage fighting is a little different. I would be very surprised if it was fox.

how bout family guy? that might be even more extreme then cage fighting. CBS is way more conservative then fox.

They have Animation Domination with Family Guy and American Dad, they also have Terminator and House which can show violence or graphic material. Not saying that means MMA would be accepted, just throwing those out there.

Fox once anchored its lineup with Married With Children.

Fox showed IFL, Fedor's baddest man on the planet special, MMA on best damn sports, Fox fight game and MMA fighters on sports science all the time. Why in the hell wouldn't they show the UFC again?

Dana and ESPN will never reach a deal. ESPN covers the entirety of sports and Dana would never risk non UFC fighters and events discussed during UFC broadcasts.

What we know for a fact is it's not ESPN, Showtime, HBO, CBS and NBC. The only Real options are Fox and ABC. Considering ABC is owned but disney the same as ESPN I really don't know if it's them or not. We've been hearing for a long time they are close to getting a deal but it never happens. I don't have my hopes up but this is the most promising news in that regards that we've had to date. So here's to hoping they get a deal done.

Fox and the UFC would be a good fit.

It will not be UFC 105 it will be a totally different event scheduled in november with penn vs sanchez as the headliner.

Agreed - you're thinking of Fox news which is politically conservative.

And fox news isn't even that conservative, it's just not 100% pro obama left wing and therefore is labeled as such.

Fox would seem like the most likely destination

I know it's a pipe dream, but the ABC ESPN combo would put the UFC on such a high plateau that no upstart would likely ever threaten. Reality says that it's likely another cable channel with slightly higher profile than Spike if anything at all though.

ESPN isn't going the way of UFC over college football on Saturday or even Friday nights. Fox makes more sense.
