| Anybody who seen these Bellator fights impressed with him at all?
I was not really impressed with him until his last fight and i thought he looked really solid in that fight against a pretty solid fighter. I think he'll control Grove like the others and win that tournament.
Anybody think he has a good future at HW? I'd like to see Bellator try to set up Konrad vs. Duffee or something...or maybe SF will loan out Cormier.

I had Konrad vs. Cormier in my interesting fights thread, I want to see it.
You could do
Alvarez vs. Gil Diaz vs. Askren Lombard vs. Jacare Konrad vs. Cormier

| Grove has a great shot to beat him. Konrad's takedowns are horrible for his pedigree and his athletic ability is a joke. Konrad is a piece of shit. I hate everything about him. That guy could have beat him anyway if he didn't concede the takedown as he admittedly did. Konrad once he is ontop is hard to get off of you, but his shot is pedestrian and his striking is typical of Deathcrush - awful.
I'm thinking Grove KO's him.

| Konrad is boring as heck, but he would be a matchup challenge for many hwy's, even a few top 10 guys. In time I expect him to be ranked in fact. I don't like the possibility, cause like I said he's boring, but so far guys have nothing to offer him.
He's looking like the hwy version of Fitch.

| Yeah, Konrad is completely raw and out of shape but does seem to improve with each fight and his competition gets stiffer.
So i was just wondering if anybody thought he had a strong future at the weight class or is his ceiling a Mike Russow or even less?

So i could see him top 10 at some point. As far as Wolf knocking his wrestling skills, he' been putting dudes on their back, and keeping them there, with little problem thus far in his career.

| No he hasn't. He had a lot of trouble getting a D3 guy with a 30+ pound weight disadvantage down. His shot is garbage and he has admitted that. It dates back to his wrestling style not being effective. Once he gets you down, it's another story though. That much is true. But an average top 15 HW would sprawl him away and put his lights out with minimal effort.
He's garbage. | |

| Never took guys down in college.
Just won by being a mountain smaller technical guys couldn't move. Cain couldn't beat him in wrestling but he would manhandle him in MMA viciously.

| Just watched Konrad against Mocco in 06, Mocco was another National Champ, Konrad is tough as hell to get down, think about that, Brock trains with a guy incredibly difficult to get down all the time. | |

| I need to find some of these older posts I read from wrestling fans who explained in detail why a wrestler like Rashad Evans who wasn't as successful in college would be better suited for MMA than Conrad. | |

| Easy more explosive, but the 285 college wrestlers just aren't gonna have that kind of explosiveness, Cormier who I need to see more of is one, Brock is a freak and Cain is a little smaller. | |

| Konrad may not have great takedowns for a nat'l champ, but let's not act like his takedowns suck. Dude is a 2 time champ, and pan american champ. He's currently 6-0 in MMA, and in the fights that I've seen, it's him in top control from the get go. Goes without saying that the guy has takedown ability. | |

| He has been facing bums. In the UFC or Strikeforce he'd have a hard time getting any of these guys down. | |

Grabowski and Lloret were not bums. Don't go all UFC glove hype on me now Wolf.

| They weren't top 20 level yet. At HW...eesh.
There is almost no one at HW in the UFC Cole would beat. Matt Mitrione would KO him unmercifully.

| dude is 6 fights into his career, why would he be fighting top 20 guys yet(and the 10-20 heavies are not the bunch of scrubs they once were). Grabowski was 13-0 coming into that fight, Lloret was 9-1, dudes had game.
though they did not have any sort of wrestling, still they were on their backs almost from the oppening bell.
Could Konrad not grapple up Mir, Kongo, Rothwell or some of the other guys that JDS and Cain have used as stepping stones to title fights? Certainly possible.
And I think the guy is a bore Wolf, Im no fan, but you know, big huge wrestlers do well in this sport.

| Kongo would sprawl him I bet. Mir too. An athletic guy with takedown defense, which is something Kongo has when not facing Cain. - Quote :
dude is 6 fights into his career, why would he be fighting top 20 guys yet Lesnar? Anyway I don't trust the East European circuit that much. He has some good wins, is a decent, huge fighter, but his takedowns are pedestrian for someone with his cred and he offers nothing else. I also think Grawboski fought the wrong strategy, conceding the takedown. Konrad will be exposed soon enough.
