Ryan Bader vs. Jon Jones targeted for UFC 127 in February

A long-discussed contest between "The Ultimate Fighter 8" winner Ryan Bader (12-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) and the dynamic 23-year-old Jon Jones (11-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) appears likely for the as-yet-unannounced UFC 127 event.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) learned of the planned date from sources close to the event.

UFC 127 is expected to take place Feb. 5 in Las Vegas and feature a middleweight title fight between current champion Anderson Silva and dangerous striker Vitor Belfort.

Jones' agent, Malki Kawa, recently told MMAWeekly.com he was hoping for a Jan. 1 booking for his client, but that now appears unlikely.

Figured this was going on 1 of the 2. That Edgar-Maynard New Years card is going to need a lot of help to sell

Especially if people keep hatin' on it!


Bones will be a big enough favorite to justify laying money on Bader.

I think Bones dominates him and I'm very high on Bader too, the fight had to be made at this point, does the winner get a Title shot?

I got Bader via robbery like his last win..

but really, Bones is gonna fuck him up.

Yeah Bader won that, 1st and 2nd rd were his, pretty much everywhere scored it for Bader, not sure I saw any place score it for Nog actually.

Nog was robbed blind. Bader did nothing to win that fight. You argue that Machida won the first fight right? As if anyone scored it for him.

Well, KingsOwnPlace scored it for Lil Nog.

Bader didnt do shit in the next two rounds after he blew his load all over the cage in round 1. Nog didnt do a whole lot in the next two rounds but Bader on the other hand did NOTHING..

That fight was way closer

1st, not even in question

2nd, close but Bader may have gotten the better of the striking from what I remember, he also scored a takedown even if it didn't amount to much it's part of fighting.

3rd, pretty close I remember giving it to Nog

Nog rocked Bader with a knee in the second and out struck him.

You both picked Nog oddly enough.........

I still haven't seen the 2nd round of that fight since my internet shit out on me but Nog easily won the 3rd and just from watching I got the impression it was unlikely that Bader did dick in the 2nd round just like the 3rd. The unanimous 30-27 was embarrassing

Has nothing to do with it. Bader was completely ineffective in rounds 2-3. He ate punches and scored a couple takedowns that led to nothing but killing time. Just another case of the takedown being overvalued by American MMA judges.

What was disgusting is that all three judges gave it to Bader 30-27. They never gave Nog a chance and it all comes down to +1000 for takedown while clean striking and hurting your opponent is like +5

The 2nd rd was fairly even in the striking, Bader scored pts with a takedown whether it did anything or not, both guys didn't do much too.

I did scored the 3rd for Nog

Decisions in uber close fights when the momentum had been shifting toward a fighter should always favor the fighter winning in the end too.

1 for A

2 is a toss up

3 for B


B wins.

The most dominant rd by either fight and most significant strikes whether early was by Bader, though I had him winning 2 rds anyways.

A great fight between two rising stars, I'm leaning towards Bones but I have a feeling Bader will shock alot of people in this fight and prove Bones is human after all.

kings your argueing for NOG but nog did not do anything to win that fight and the only clear rd was bader rd1. Its hard to admit but the NOGS are done!

Lil Nog is still capable to compete with the top ten Light Heavies, I could see him beating the likes of Franklin,Rampage and Forrest.

Maybe Franklin could outpoint him but I see Page being TKO'd and Forrest KTFO.

When was the last time Page got TKO'd by anyone? Lil Nog looked bad in his last 2 fights. He's not a top 10 fighter and never will be again.
