| So does this setup a Fedor vs Barnett matchup now? | |

| Valentin Overeem. Not Alistair. This can't set up a Fedor Barnett bout. If anything, Bigfoot squashing Overeem's old washed up bro sets up that bout for early summer. | |

Well I thought they were attempting to push Bigfoot on Fedor. Since Reem is out fighting K-1 and Werdum is having surgery, I just figured it opened the door for Fedor vs Barnett.

| That is true, but Fedor is going to wait on Werdum, and Overeem is going to hold the promotion hostage and likely not fight until another Rogers comes along. | |

I wouldn't doubt it. I was just curious since I haven't heard any rumors for potential opponent for Barnett but he has recently talked about still wanting to fight Fedor and how he feels that fight still needs to happen and still will happen.

| not digging this fight.
Big foot went from possibly fighting for the title, possibly fighting fedor, to now fighting Valentijn? How did that happen?
I do agree that this looks to open things up for Fedor vs Barnett, and hopefully Allistair vs Werdum. As well as giving Silva an easy looking W, so as to make him a more marketable title contendor down the line.

| It happened because Strikeforce's HWs hold the promotion hostage. If Silva smashes Overeem's bro, maybe he can force a fight for the title. | |

| Called out the Reem and got big brother instead. Oh, well, the guy has to do work either way and get the win. SF is needing a shake up more every week. Maybe they can follow through on the 8 man tourneys soon in all or as many divisions as they can and put pressure on the guys fighting for them to show up, show they belong. Market it under the premise of people in the turney are interested in showing they want to be the best, smear decliners name. There should come a point when they roll the dice and quit letting outside forces dictate so much of their operations. | |

| Maybe they can just bring in the Bellator HW Championship and pretend that is the belt. | |

| I think Pride is the main reason he won't. Pride having two meanings, past literal and present fear. Anything that gives a cent to another org is a no no also. | |

Strong arming fighters is what the UFC gets bitched at for. SF overall does an amazing job. Not everything is going to be perfect.

| They do, but they are also getting less and less forward traction at HW lately, at least from some of the high end guys. They are getting somewhere with their newer or prospect HW's, slowly, but the top is unclear. | |

| There haven't even been any Strikeforce events in a while. Hard to maintain traction when you're pooping out a challenger event once a month for three months. | |

| They could start putting names on the Challenger main events. AA vs Johnson or Mousasi vs Kyle type of fights. Something that can draw and keep guys busy. | |

don't think the budget would allow that.

Well you have Werdum injured, King Mo injured, Shields left, Mayhem fighting in DREAM, Reem fighting in K-1...that is enough to slow them down a bit.

don't think the budget would allow that. If it put more people in seats for challengers and got more eyes on tv it could help a bit for revenue. Would be tough to pay some dudes though.

exactly, and not just AA, but SDR, Rogers, Sergie, maybe Lavar, a bunch of guys in need of a (somewhat) quality win, who could use Valentijn as a stepping stone. Silva does not need a barely .500 stepping stone, he needs a marque matchup.
