will shields get a title shot should he beat kampmann?

I think he should get a title shot if he beats Kampmann but he would more than likely have to go through Fitch.

He should have to fight Fitch. Jon earned his shot.

that could happen but damn i dont wann see gsp vs fitch 2. i mean gsp vs shields is like a fight that a lot of folks been waiting on. i dont think dana would be dumb enough to pass this one up. sure fitch will get screwed a bit but come on i think the majority of gsp fans and mma fans would want gsp vs shields over gsp vs fitch 2.

I think the timeline is such that a Fitch Shields fight makes sense. And if shields were to beat Fitch it would make a Shields GSP fight all the more intriguing. Cause even if Shields offers a new challenger to GSP, does anyone give him much of a chance at this moment

I'm pretty sure Fitch is already in line for his title shot. Pretty sure Dana said so before the Alves fight.

both are not big time stand up guys so it will be a ground fight

i give the edge to gsp but i wouldnt count out shields. shields has proven himself to be a great ground fighter.

The only reason I would want to see Shields instead of Fitch is because I think GSP has an easier time finishing Shields.

I also want to point out that I actually think Kampmann will beat Shields and it won't matter.

It's not cut and dry. Remember that last week Dana said that he'll make the decision after the GSP-Kos fight, but Shields may definitely be next in line for the title shot. Apparently Dana's not impressed with Fitch's performance these days... So after Shields submits Kamp somewhere in the middle of the first round, Dana will likely be impressed enough to bypass Fitch. One thing for certain is that Fitch and Shields won't fight for contender status. Dana will name an opponent likely within minutes of the finish of the GSP-Kos fight...

If Shields wins he should get the next title shot. It's a fresh match-up. Fitch vs Shields would be the most boring fight ever.

I would give Shields the shot if it was me.
