| Does Maidana have any leverage? No. Does Khan also say guys are pricing themselves out when they are somewhat dangerous? Yes. | |

Yes. Duran eventually redeemed himself though. A lot of great fighters have quit. A lot of times it's when they are at the end of their career. Duran was already an ATG lightweight by the second Leonard fight and would remain the only man to defeat Leonard at 147. Bastard would probably be still fighting today if he didn't get into that accident.

Detroit or Vegas is what I read. See now that is the point....Khan cannot possibly have a big fan base in either Detroit or Vegas. If this fight was in the UK, sure, absolutely, but not in the US. He's just not that big here. This fight would have to be part of another card just to garner enough interest in it to generate the kind of money they're talking about. It seems like the big guy is picking on the little guy. Khan has Roach & GBP looming behind him & Maidana is the new kid with no backup. Keep in mind, Oscar is very cold & calculating as a promoter, no better or worse than Arum or King. He will squeeze as much as he can out of every fighter regardless of the fighter's well being. But the difference is Khan's got a fanbase who will travel to see him, plus Golden Boy is targeting Detroit because of it's large Muslim population. More than Ca or NY? Also wouldn't it be easier to make the fight in the UK? Bigger venue = bigger crowd.

| I say screw HBO. Fight in the UK. He can draw, what, 25,000 fans relatively easily back home. | |

HBO's offer for Khan-Maidana, according to a source, is $2 million if it takes place in the United States, $1.75 million if it's in England but live in U.S. prime time, and $750,000 if it's in England and airs on tape-delay in U.S. prime time. From Dan's latest notebook. |

| In that scenario, GBP is losing out on gate revenue, no way they make anything close to what they would pull in overseas | |

Manchester is the best place for boxing in the UK, you always get good crowds there. |

| Hasn't Khan voiced his desire to become an attraction in the States? I think that's one of the reasons why he got with Golden Boy in the first place. He wants GBP to get him big fights in the States and "make him a star there."
Problem is, who is he gonna fight at 140 that is gonna draw in the states? Bradley has a very small following, Alexander's St. Louis fanbase is sizable but absolutely nothing compared to the crowds Khan has in England. GBP really has it's work cut out if they want to develop Khan into a US attraction/
HBO needs to cut it out. I would really like to see the thought process that goes behind how HBO pays for it's fights and fighters. I have an itchy feeling that there are a lot of undesirables pulling strings and messing it up for us fight fans.

| IF Khan can overcome Maidana,Bradley/Alexander,Ortiz and Judah then he'll become an attraction, he'll never be able to rival Hatton's following but he'll land that big fight at Welterweight. |

Flod would sign up to fight him in a heartbeat.

Flod would sign up to fight him in a heartbeat. I wouldn't be surprised if Flod was already considering Khan right now. |
