Cool, looks like he might come back after all. But it will be at least a year.

In which Dana replies.
"And when people say, 'Hey, these guys put their lives on the line,' that's a crock of s---. This sport is so safe. These guys have chosen to be fighters!"
Well maybe a life isn't on the line here, but the man's well being is. Not that I'd expect the former boxercise instructor to have empathy.

How did this turn into a bash Dana thread, and further why is Dana being faulted for saying the sport is safe when he is still trying to get it legalized?

There's been a lot of random Dana bashing on here over the past few weeks about every little thing that happens

well it is a pretty interesting coincidence, the belcher eye story and the dana quote.

He wasn't even hit when it happens. The sport is as safe as anything else with contact. Wrestling, boxing, football. What is Dana supposed to say, they do put their lives on the line? Ya that will fly real well in the "human cockfighting" circle.

But it was an unsolicited quote, directed at a fighter. It was not in reply to a direct question in regards to the safety of the sport. It was in regards to a guy who he deemed put on an uninspiring performance(a KO win). In essence he was chastising the fighter, and he was telling the fighter the sport is safe.
Of coarse safe is a relative term, there are certainly more dangerous things in the world, but this sport is pretty brutal. And to be sure, in comparison to what Dana does, the sport is really not that safe.

What is the context of his remarks? I'm struggling to find fault in anything he, the promoter and face of the sport, said there.

The remarks were aimed at Mir. But I just find it interesting that he would chastise one of his fighters using that line, while at the same time another of his fighters is having chronic pain in his eye which may jeopardize his career.
Is dana a promoter? yes. do we expect promoters to speak out their ass? Of coarse. But you know, we as fans will talk about it.

He wasn't speaking out of his ass, and Belcher's eye is hardly a reason to not criticize Mir for being a pussy when he felt CC's punching power. IMO.

Belcher is a tough dude with a tune up fight i think he would beat Bisbing. How would Bisbing win jab jab run for 15 minutes as he tends to do against any good fighter? Belcher has a great chin and i dont see a sub happening either way. He needs four months of training at least before he fights again though, so it will be a while.
