UFC 123 Nov. 20, "Rampage" vs. Machida in Michigan

The "Detroit Free Press" first reported the plans, and MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) since has confirmed them with sources close to the show.

The sources said cities ranging from San Antonio to Cleveland to Pittsburgh were also considered for the pay-per-view event before UFC officials ultimately settled on Auburn Hills.

Everyone should atleast give him a chance. Shogun showed that his chin has a soft spot and Rampage has showed he can take a shot. So if Rampage can get Machida to exchange he has a chance to land a shot.

I'm just saying only a moron would say he has "no shot" after watching him get KTFO last fight. Especially when the guy you are fighting has a great chin and powerful hands. I didn't say he has a "weak" chin, I said it has a "soft spot". Which means you connect right and his lights can go out. The aura of Machida is gone.

Rampage isn't versatile or smart enough to lure Machida into a brawl.

I never said Rampage would win, I just said there is a chance, which is logical considering the only times we have seen Machida get touched he lost. Saying Rampage has "no shot in hell" is just insane. That is something to "pffftt" about. How many times have we seen Machida come off a lose? The closest we got to that we saw Machida KO'd. Is Machida's confidence the same as it was pre-Shogun 1? Do his opponents still have the same fear/respect for him? All factors into this equation. You don't think Rampage seeing Machida KO'd boost his confidence coming into this? This is all new for Machida.

Machida's mentality will decide who wins this fight. If he has lost his confidence he'll be in trouble but if it's the pre Rua Machida then he'll win easy.

Rampage has a chance. This isn't as one sided as GSP vs Serra or anything. Rampage is not championship relevant right now but he isn't in complete write off, he should retire territory or anything either.

Rampage would really have to get him good, but we're still talking about hard to hit Machida here. Shogun had the advantage of being a more technically sound striker than Machida so Lyoto keeping his distance and playing the point game was not going to be comfortable fight for Lyoto, so Machida felt he had to engage with Shogun and thats a mistake...

Rampage is tailor made for Lyoto's fight. Rampage has a punchers chance, if he manages to get to Lyoto with ease or actually beats Lyoto in a decision then Lyoto is drinking dirty piss or something because he would not be the same.

I do now that machida has been ko'd. He has that fear now not to mention machida knows page hits harder than anyone he has fought. How good are his chances? not that great unless he just steam rolls machida for the kill. Page needs to get inside on machida and couture his ass if he wants a chance.

It wasn't so much that Shogun was technically sound, it was that he was technically sound and lightning quick. Rampage is none of those.
