He lost to two guys who are on that list. Doesn't matter. I thought this list was the bestest of the besterest, not the list of "Almost did it".

He obliterates Duran and HOfer Cuevas, two legendary punchers and outboxes a legendary boxer in HOFer Benitez. I'm not sure losing wars with two top 25 guys oughtta be a disqualifier. Burley also has a losing record against guys on this list. One can also argue Archie Moore lost his biggest fights to Marciano, Ezzard, Patterson and Ali. Exceptional invention of vocabulary by the way

But isn't this supposed to be the Mount Olympus of lists? It's the only one I have a slight issue with.

It's the only one I have a slight issue with. Hearns, along with Finito and Burley are probably the marginal guys here.

| there are a few that i somewhat disagree with especially since people agreed with dmar on not putting ike williams on the list. i feel like there are fighters on here that lost big fights and dont deserve the immortal name.
also, what about carlos ortiz? was he mentioned? i definitely think that he deserves to be on this list.

| greatness is one thing..that carlos ortiz was so was bentitez mayweather ketchel cerdan frazier fighting harada lou ambers sanchez and several others..immortal is another thing entirely...fighters far greater than carlos ortiz were not even considered.and there are many greater than ortiz ..lamotta harry wills pasqual perez and other great fighters were left out cause immortal ment extreme selectivity which this forum did a awsome job in doing..ill put our selections up against any established all time great recognized boxing historian any day..or any group of them..its a standard of excellence thats beyound greatness..yes as marble stated we have perhaps 2 or 3 that are boarderline. but thats it.. a topic of great fighters not on the list can be debated on whos great and who truly isnt but may be a near great or a very very good fighter may be in the future..outside jofre which will be elected i dont fel we left any one else off..its the greatest of the greats..ortiz ive seen fight soo many times fight live ..not youtube..i nevere felt him to be extra extra special..great fighter..yep.like a few hundred or more others. | |

| the problem is that i believe that ortiz and williams deserve to be on this list more than some other people on it. if we are truly doing "immortal" as it seems like you are describing, i would take off half of the fighters. only a few fighters in history would i actually give the honor of immortal as you(dmar) describe. | |

| realy..take over half off our list..that means ortiz is greater then a lot of our immortal list..now whos is this handfull of immortals you feel deserve that ..a few means whaT 3 4 5 7..the rest dont deserve that immortal title but ortiz does since you feel by saying this we did a poor job and allowed several fighters that dont deserve that title..lets see oscars not on our list..what did ortiz do thats far greater then oscar.zarates not on our list..what did ortiz do thats soo far greater then him..ditto kid chocolete..you actualy think ortiz was way above the kid..or maybe a tiger flowers emile griffith..luiz rodriguez..ortiz was head over heals over thoses also..your being totaly unrealistic..soo a fav of yours didnt make it..soo what..soo did a lot of my favorites.why.they dont deserve it..neither does ortiz.....sooner are we going to vote on 100-300 other fighters not on our list or nominated..why not gene fullmer..or battling nelson wolgast ..where do we stop..the list is a excellent one..ortiz dont belong nor does 150 other great ones.. | |

| im not saying that ortiz deserves to be on a list of what i would call immortal but he seems to fit this list. i guess that i feel that this list has some immortals and some not so immortals. like i said before, if we were doing what i think of immortal and what it seems like you are saying, then thats why im saying that half of these fighters shouldnt be on there and i wouldnt put ortiz or williams or other fighters. | |

| Got a better pic of Mickey Walker if you want to use it. Actually, if you're looking for any hard-to-find pics let me know. I have about 35,000 boxing pics and posters on my HD. | |

ummm....ok? other people agree with me on ortiz so im not the only one. i wasnt on this forum when this was first started so im still a little confused on what an immortal really means because obviously we have different opinions on the definition but if everybody says nay on ortiz or other fighters, then i obviously dont get this whole immortal thing. but if people are agreeing with me then maybe its you who doesnt understand it. ill admit if im wrong but if im wrong, im wrong on the definition of what this list is, not on my knowledge of certain fighters.

| Actually here's one I think works better. Using a smallish pic for a fullsize body shot takes away a good amount of detail from the fighter. How about this? | |
