Nick Diaz vs KJ Noons rematch likely Oct.9

It looks like Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz will finally get the opportunity to avenge his most recent loss -- to KJ Noons via technical knockout (cuts) way back in 2007 -- when the long-awaited rematch goes down at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., on Oct. 9, 2010.

GracieFighter.com announced that Diaz and Noons have verbally agreed to run it back, while Strikeforce listed the showdown in its most recent newsletter.

It appears that the bout will be contested at welterweight (170 pounds) rather than lightweight (155 pounds) for Diaz's world title, which would mark his first defense since defeating Marius Žaromskis earlier this year to win the vacant strap.

Hell yeah, I have been wanting Nick to 1. defend his title and 2. avenge his loss to KJ. Beat his ass Nick!

I won't lie it's a great fight but I'd rather see Diaz vs Miller.

Noons will make his debut at WW in a title fight? I normally defend Strikeforce but that is pretty sucky.

Yeah but how many WWs does SF have on roster? 5? They shouldn't even have a WW divsion. It should be LW, MW and catchweights in between.

Mistake by Noons going up in weight.

As for Noons getting a title shot. Who's in line first? All their WW are prospects or more over the hill vets.

The only other possible contender at 170 just got his walking papers this past week.

Nah this is a poor man's GSP vs Penn.

And since SF is the poor man's UFC, this works quite nicely.

Cesar Gracie was on Mauro's earlier and he said the word from Strikeforce is that KJ Noons is having a lot of problems cutting to 155 and that he will likely stay at WW.

I can't wait for this fight.

The Huen fight was at 160, and Gurgel, forgave Noons a 1/4 lb in this last matchup. Of coarse his elite title was at 160, and has boxed as high as 164.

Diaz uses his reach, but not so much his weight in fights. We've already seen Noons not be bothered by Diaz's reach.
