According to Sampson Lewkowicz, an adviser for WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez, negotiations have resumed for a rematch with Paul Williams. Negotiations were resumed after Alfredo Angulo turned down an offer of $750,000 to fight Martinez on HBO. Williams won a razor close majority twelve round decision over Martinez last December.
The new target date appears to be November 20 on HBO. The fight was originally being pushed for an HBO slot on October 2, which is now the target date for a possible tripleheader featuring WBO 154-pound champion Sergei Dzinziruk, WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto and WBA super flyweight champion Celestino Caballero.
If Williams-Martinez lands on that date, the network is sure to pair it with the pay-per-view replay of Manny Pacquiao vs. Antonio Margarito, taking place on November 13.
