5 Reasons Why I liked The Old UFC Rules Better

5. Soccer Kicks and Kicks to downed opponents were allowed

4. No weight Limits, come on admit it GOrdeau vs Tuli is what more than likely got you hooked and ROyce Gracie beating guys 2 times bigger than him. Ferrozzo vs Bohlander stuff was awesome to watch

3. The Gi was allowed.

2. Holding the Fence was allowed

1. Knee's to a downed opponent's head were allowed

I loved the old school brutal ways

MMA wouldn't be here if that stuff still went on. I don't mind stomps, but soccer kicks should be banned. I don't like the Gi because it is sometimes like an extra arm if used the right way. Holding the fence is just plain cheating. I would love for guys to be able to fight at different weight classes. Knees to a downed opponent is okay with me, just like a Jon Jones 12/6 elbow.

i remember all the old ways.... i always wondered why they did away with the knees to downed opponets but i understand why they did away with the rest. that's why i liked pride because they had more of the old style rules

Pride rules were the best! Not as bad as old UFC, but allowed all of the good stuff along with the good ol yellow card.

Well I used to be for kneeing downed opponents until I saw Rashad on 'Deadliest Warrior' showing what a knee to the skull of a human being was. One knee is all he needed to 'kill' the person. So not having that one no longer bothers me. Elbows though? Come on, I am a big boy and can handle it.

it was a great weapon when stalled in someones guard i loved em Shammy and COleman used em like no other back in the day

The tournaments was easily the best thing about the old rules.

yes Winston Jim Brown did UFC 2- 9 if i reember right I loved it

Can't forget Gracie kneeing Kimo in the balls and holding Leopoldo's hair while punching him from the ground.Gracie and Shamrock both had to pull out of their next fights due to injuries,if I'm not mistaken.

ya honestly, Ken could have continued , he was banged up, but when he heard Gracie pulled out it was a mental and physical thing thats who he wanted and he said fuck it and pulled out I think Ken could have won that tourney, it was more just hearing Gracie was out blew it for him
