Promoter Dan Goossen on Tuesday told BoxingScene.com that a deal has been reached for heavyweight Chris Arreola to square off with Manny Quezada on Aug. 13 at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif.
The card will be televised by ESPN2.
Arreola (28-2, 25 KOs), who last fought there on April 24 and lost a majority decision to Tomasz Adamek, has lost two of his past three bouts after starting his career 27-0. He was stopped by world champion Vitali Klitschko after 10 rounds in September 2009 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Arreola came back to stop journeyman Brian Minto in the fourth round in December.
The loss to Klitschko was no surprise, but Goossen suggested the loss to Adamek was a bit of one.
"Chris is one of the most exciting heavyweights we've seen since Mike Tyson, but you can't afford to lose fights you should win," he said. "It's a taste you don't like."
Goossen said Arreola would like a rematch against Adamek, who will be taking on Michael Grant on Aug. 21.
Quezada (29-5, 18 KOs), of Wasco, Calif., had won 18 consecutive fights before being upset by Jason Gavern on April 8. Gavern won a split decision at Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino in Lemoore, Calif.
