http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2010/7/6/1555965/jake-sheilds-says-i-would-love-to

"I hadn’t really been talking to Strikeforce and pretty much everyone knows that I want to go to the UFC. We got our negotiations going with the UFC and they (Strikeforce) dropped me without any warning and it came out of nowhere. It is what it is and I’m moving ahead with the UFC contract and hopefully that will be worked out soon."

"[Strikeforce] They certainly didn’t treat me like a champion. I went up there thinking that I was the champion, didn’t have any tickets and wasn’t able to get in. Finally one of the Showtime guys was able to get me in and then Scott Coker had some tickets for me but they were way way way up in the stands where I barely could see and I was really surprised because I didn’t realize that is how Strikeforce treats their champs. ...They obviously wanted Henderson to win from the beginning and they were a little upset about that but I guess they just got mad at me for winning."

"Honestly I would love to see Gilbert [Melendez] and Nick [Diaz] in the UFC. Even though Strikeforce is a good show, everyone knows it’s the number two show. They have a handful of good fighters but all the top competition is in the UFC and I feel that Nick and Gilbert are good enough to fight at the highest level. I would love to see them come over and once I get signed I’ll have to put that in Dana’s ear"

Strikeforce certainly isn't immune to the troubles the UFC had a few short years ago.

IDK Bird, they kind of treated him like shit, he ended up being one of their top 3 fighters.

If Sheilds brings Nick and Gil to the UFC, he'll become one of my favorite fighters.

i think him constantly talking about wanting to be in UFC is why they treted him like shit, plus he was n some boring fights and other than the Henderson fight whenever he fought their ratings dipped

for StrikeForces sake they need to keep Gil and Diaz

Well he was a winner, and they treated him badly before any knowledge of him leaving.

Those fighters are as good as gone after their contracts IMO

I’m a fighter who takes it one opponent at a time and my next fight is in Strikeforce against (Dan) Henderson. When you talk about guys like Anderson Silva and St.-Pierre, the best in the world, obviously I fight want to fight them. I want to be the best in the world and to be the best you have to beat the best. GSP’s a complete fighter standing and on the ground. But that’s why I want to fight him, that’s the challenge. I want to test my skills and see what happens. Now I’m focused on Dan Henderson for this fight and after that my contract with Strikeforce ends. I’ll talk with Strikeforce and the UFC to find out which one I will work for.”

How many fighters not in the UFC you want me to find who've said that? Every fighter wants to fight in the UFC, or WEC if they're little guys.

It's one of ur Champs, don't stickup for SF, u read Coker comparing Brock and Batista recently?

Sandro saying similar things recently, they respect where they are, when they're there, but all want the big show eventually.

ya but all i am telling you LA is this, how bout promoting your own promotion and not making it clear there is no chacne in hell your signing wiht them

if shields was smart he would have got UFC and SF in a bidding war for him

know he is lleft to get lowballed by Dana

and yea Coker wants Batista for a fight big deal it will bring viewers

other than being pro wrestlers and probably roiding the 2 have nothing in common

He did promote, and said what tons of other fighters have said, sorry I'm not buying sticking up for SF. And Coker compared them based on how they could succeed in MMA.

“We’re not the guys that are putting all the circus fights on,” said Coker, “but in all fairness, look at Brock Lesnar. He made the crossover. Why not Batista?”

Anyways most notable thing about the article was Sheilds could convince Gil and Nick to sign with the UFC which would be amazing.

Nick without question needs to be in the UFC

Gil atleast has a possible co-pro fight with Eddie and a couple other decent fights

SF has handled the Shields situation very poorly. They should have picked up the one fight option b4 the Hendo fight, silly not to, and they should not now have just cut negotiations.

I can understand that he is a bore, and from SF's standpoint will not earn back the $$$ that a p4p fighter will command. And he has always expressed interest in going to the UFC. But why burn bridges? Why not let the UFC outbid u b4 cutting him loose? Why let a UFC mouthpeice poison 2 of your other champions?

But with SF out of the picture, Shields loses alot of leverage power, my guess is that he will not be happy with the UFC offer, but will have to accept.
