| BoxingScene.com has heard rumblings from a reliable source that a fight between junior welterweight prospect Victor Ortiz and former world champion Vivian Harris is being discussed as a strong possibility to be on the pay-per-view undercard of Shane Mosley versus Sergio Mora. Harris isn't set in stone but he is on Golden Boy's short list of possible opponents. Golden Boy has a strong undercard set up for their 7/31 pay-per-view rematch between Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz. Robert Guerrero faces Joel Casamayor, Jorge Linares takes on Rocky Juarez and Danny Jacobs fights Dmitry Pirog on the televised portion of the undercard. They are looking to put together another solid undercard for the Mosley-Mora main event that takes place on September 18th at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Besides Victor Ortiz, Golden Boy is looking to put Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on the card, possibly against Matthew Hatton. http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=28888 |

| I'm happy about this. A bunch of undercards I don't care about means there's no chance I'll have to buy this weak card.
GBP's plan for Ortiz is to try and slowly build him back up until he shows more confidence in the ring. And honestly, there's no reason to rush him because he's not quite ready for the top fighters. It should be noted he did well against Maidana which doesn't get said enough. |

| See I disagree Gumby
Its not like Ortiz got KTFO or a Calzaghe like beatdown like Lacy got, he was leading on the cards and had dropped Maidana twice
Now he cant even fight a ranked contender at Jr WW? WTF?

Now he cant even fight a ranked contender at Jr WW? WTF? Yeah I am with you on that. I think he needs to step up and fight someone in the top 25 or so and then move on to a top 10 guy. |

| I don't mind it, Ortiz still needs to rebuild his confidence and get rounds under his belt, he's still young remember. |

| Why Vivian Harris? At least put him in there with guys that have some chance of beating him. He gains nothing from beating up on Harris. | |

| Golden Boy reminds me of HBO. All they care about is the name of the opponent. Vivian is washed up (as Ali correctly pointed out).
Harris- 32 years old 2005-KOd by Maussa; couple of wins on comeback trail 2007-KOd by Witter 2008-comeback win against the monster opponent Octavio Navarez (record of 7-4). 2009-took a vicious headbutt that knocked him out on Friday Night Fights (no contest) 2010-Matthyse got stoppage win in a fight that Harris was winning. Harris got hit with some good shots in 4th round and then one of the worst early stoppages I've ever seen
But this is the level of opponent they want for Ortiz. Golden Boy and HBO-only care about the name. A darn opponent who has 1 win in the last 36 months (against a 7-4 guy no less). Such an utter joke.

| Alvarez vs Matthew Hatton is fine with me. Alvarez is very young. Keep putting him in the ring. The competition level needs to go up incrementally. Cotto's brother was a step up (but he was a smaller guy moving up in weight). Matthew Hatton is a respectable pro who will serve his purpose(he's lower top 40 for 147). After that will be time for a 15-20 type opponent or two. | |

| I see it that GBP's trying to get warm bodies in the ring with their prospects. Even though Ortiz was a fringe contender for a bit, I've bumped him back down to prospect after a tough loss that showed his immaturity.
I don't hate it because they're trying to build up/rebuild guys to get them ready for the big stage. I'm happy because they've decided to do so on a card that I have no interest in. If you told me this would be on the Floyd-Pac undercard I'd be heated. But these are appropriate fights for this card.
Mexican fans who want to see young talent might get the PPV, same with Mosley fans. Everyone else can tune out. |

| I like Magic Matt Vs. El Canelo. Good fight for both and both have a a lot to lose. If Hatton beats this young lion he will surly get a bigger fight in the division. If Canelo beats this veteran he will be featured on bigger cards and possibly a BAD or a showbox of his own very soon.
Golden Boy must know something about Ortiz that we don't, or maybe that we do. Why not match him with Khan? Both from GBP and I'm sure there would be an interest from one of the networks to pick it up. Ortiz in my opinion is nothing more than a top ten contender who cannot compete Alexander, Bradley, Pacquaio, Khan or Maidana and I think Maidana is overrated.

| Khan doesn't have much of a chin, but Roach has helped him to protect it, and he is a very good boxer with good power. He has a shot at beating the best.
Ortiz runs into the following problem. He is a pretty good boxer with pretty good speed and power, but he has no chin. His speed, power, and boxing skills aren't over and above the top 5 guys (most of them can match him), and when he gets matched with the best the difference will be that chin.

| My guess is Golden Boy will work their way up to a Khan vs Ortiz fight, it's not really the right time to match them together.
Say Khan stops JMM and Ortiz beats Maidana in a rematch, then that would be a time to match them. |
