Maybe he's not back after all...

bloody elbow:

"In addition to winning the Pride Grand Prix Finals, [UFC 115] it’s my favorite fight of my career [but] most of the training proved to me that I am now too old for this…I don’t know about a new contract with the UFC. I believe that I gave this game a lot, I fought with the greatest fighters," Cro Cop said.

"For 20 years I lived this life and now I have no motivation for the fight, no mental strength for all the Spartan training. I am no longer so hungry for victory. I will not stop training, but if I am asleep I’ll stay in bed and practice an hour later."

"I have some [seminar] contacts around the seminar circuit in the U.S., Australia, Europe and even Brazil," Cro Cop said.

I say go for it...the greats rarely retire on a high note.

At least he knows when to quit unlike some other fighters.....but I still think he has a fight or two in him, Mir vs. Cro cop would make my year.

That training camp in Amsterdam was a wake up call, hopefully Cro Cop does the right thing.

LOL

Mir wouldn't be able to get him down and would get owned in the standup, I'd be picking Cro cop with confidence.

Frank Mir would absolutely destroy Cro Cop at this stage in his career. He'd knock him down with a strike and ground and pound him into submission.

Didn't even need you to post to know what you think.

I'm looking at it purely from the matchup, Mir wouldn't be getting Mirko down easy, he's never had a good shot and Mirko has great takedown D, and Mir would be able to hang with Cro cop standing?

If Barry didn't have a hard on for Cro Cop he would've finished him in the 1st round.

Come on LA, your Mir hate is starting to get tedious now. Cro Cop is done.

It's called matchups, Mir is probably a top 5 most overrated fighter in MMA right now, I gave you reasoning, all you guys can give me is, "Mir would own him standing" which is laughable.

I hate Mir too but i'm a realist and don't let my bias get in the way of my opinion. Cro Cop is done and can't beat any top 15 heavyweight.

Nothing to do with hate, but the matchup, Mir isn't gonna dominate Cro cop standing, he isn't Dos Santos, and Cro cop still has some of the best takedown D in MMA, while Mir has never, never had a good shot. Mir would get picked apart standing IMO, even from cro cop at this point.

Advantage LA in this debate. Mir would be mauled by CC. Period.

Anyway this story is already old news as new reports have come around saying Crocop is bluffing retirement to get the UFC to offer more $$$.

Toward the end of the fight I was standing up cheering Cro Cop on and then he went in for the kill and I was jumping for joy......not really a bad memory to end on for CC. As much as I would love to see him do that again, I would rather see him end this way then the way of my boy Chuck.

OKay, this rekindled love for CC is utter nonsense. Barry has two opportunities to finish that fight and he didn't take them. Crocop would still get man-handled by the top ten+. He submitted a kickboxer that outstruck him for much of the fight. I'm not willing to get carried away here.

Barry landed two really solid punches the whole fight then couldn't figure Mirko out. Mirko dominated the majority of the fight, and wasn't close to being finished.

This manlove for Frank Mir's striking is disturbing.

Wolfman is right on this one. Barry could have finished? I'll say he landed 1 very good shot and 1 pretty good shot. He MIGHT have been able to finish after that good shot, but I think CC recovered quick enough that he would not of likely been able to finish him.
After the 1st round CC dominated that fight. CC would still school Mir on the feet and if they fought I would lean toward CC winning the fight.
