| Watch Kalib Run has a piece where Zak discusses the two cards, and in his mind, 117 is a the significantly better card. Not sure I can sign onto that theory at all. Where do you stand? Hughes vs Almeida is an irrelevant hugfest waiting to suck the life out of the card, Clay vs dos Anjos might be fun but it is a wholey irrelevant fight for the title picture, this isn't a maincard bout. Fitch vs Alves and Nelson vs Dos Santos are both important fights though. The main event is somewhat compelling stylewise, but ultimately Chael and Anderson are both disguistingly boring fighters when they want to be and I have a feeling we should expect a disappointing and terrible main event. We could see the biggest p4p shakeup since Serra-GSP though.
Carwin vs Lesnar is a hugely anticipated bout and much more compelling of a fight to me, Wanderlei Silva vs Akiyama is a pivitol fight for the title picture with the weight of a national fight rivalry, George Snuffalupogis vs Batman is a huge fight for LW rankings and puts the winner a fight or so away from a title bid. Lytle vs Brown is a prelim quality fight and so would Bonnar vs Polish, but that is a rematch of an exciting and controversial fight. There is no question which card I prefer. The main and co-main of 116 are much better than 117.
Champ Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen (for middleweight title) Ricardo Almeida vs. Matt Hughes Rafael dos Anjos vs. Clay Guida Thiago Alves vs. Jon Fitch Junior Dos Santos vs. Roy Nelson
Compare UFC 117's main card to UFC 116's:
Champ Brock Lesnar vs. Interim Champ Shane Carwin (heavyweight title-unification bout) Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Wanderlei Silva Matt Brown vs. Chris Lytle Stephan Bonnar vs. Krzysztof Soszynski Kurt Pellegrino vs. George Sotiropoulos

| Both are pretty good. I'd go 117 though
The thing I'm most looking forward to on 116 is Alves brutally moving Fitch out of the title picture. Hopefully this big layoff won't play a factor

| That is a 117 fight. Alves lay off and injury will hamper him I think though. Of course, if Carwn and Wandy lose, and Alves and Chael win, 117 will blow 116 out of the water after the fact for me. | |

He contributes, but Fitch vs Alves is a fight I've been waiting forever to see. JDS is one of my fav HWs who knocks peple the fuck out. Sonnen v Anderson isn't as good as Brock v Carwin, but a title fight to match it. Plus Anjos v Guilda looks entertaining too. 117 looks great and 116 looks very good.

| Guida/Dos Anjos and Hughes/Almeida take a lot of luster off the 117 card for me. | |

Dos Anjor has great BJJ, Guida has great wrestling. They both can slug. I think we'll see a solid grappling match with some hands flying in between.

| I think they both look great, do I really have to make a decision?...OK, just because I want to see Brock get KTFO. I don't think he will, but that is what I want to see. | |

| Easily 117 for me, I think its better overall card. But if you go by the poster 116 wins. | |

| 117 has the better overall card but 116 has the more intriguing main event.

| Wow I am really surprised to see the 117 love. So what fights do it for you? Chael's wrestling chance against Anderson? | |

| Champ Brock Lesnar vs. Interim Champ Shane Carwin -huge fight with huge guys. Easily the #1 fight on either card
Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Wanderlei Silva -Big fight in the MW division. I personally see this as a pretty easy win for Wand. I'm sure others disagree.
Matt Brown vs. Chris Lytle -Could be a slugfest or could be an easily win for Lytle like the Foster fight.
Stephan Bonnar vs. Krzysztof Soszynski -Both journeymen rematching... not exactly a huge fight. May be entertaining.
Kurt Pellegrino vs. George Sotiropoulos -I see Sotiro winning this one easily.
Very good, but not quite great. I love both cards.
