| It's been said all the time about Paul Williams. It would be said about the Klits if people respected them. Now it's starting to be said about Caballero. It will be said about Funeka if he ever dominates. Can a fighter be too big for his division if he makes weight?
I say no. If a guy meets all of the weigh in rules, he should be allowed to fight in that division. Being able to cut weight and put on weight quick has become a physical skill in all of the combat sports. It's become a part of boxing.
I hate hearing that people say Paul Williams should fight guys his own size at 160-168 when his power and strength aren't elite at 147. Just because a guy is tall, doesn't mean his frame supports adding on 20-30 lbs, and most people don't see similar increases in power and strength as they go up in weight. Williams for example looks fragile at 160. Having tall fighters in the lower divisions makes for better match ups...if they can find fights.

If a guy weighs 160 on fight night and beats a guy who weighs 180, do you give him more credit? If we knew how much each guy weighed on fight night would it changed the way we rated fighters? Or is shedding weight as much of a skill as slipping punches or throwing a perfect hook?
For me it definitely would change how I felt about a fighter. Especially when thinking about p4p.

But in your opinion? Without denigrating those who disagree? The IDEA is stupidity itself

| williams has always been on the lighter side. it was always a bad argument to say that he was too big for welter because he was cutting less weight than most welters were. there have always been big HWs so the klits arent too big, other people are just bad. caballero and funeka arent too big either. just because someone is tall for their weight doesnt mean anything. there have always been those kinds of fighters like saddler, hearns, corrales, and tons of others were tall for their weight but thats just an advantage that they had. | |

| i don't believe a fighter can be to big for a division but i do believe there are fighters that are to small for a division a perfect example would be oscar when he moved up to Middleweight to fight B-Hop | |

| No, if the guy can make weight then let him compete where he wants to. Now the solution to this would be same day weigh ins. This wouldn't let a guy have roughly thirty hours to rehydrate and dominate a "smaller man". | |

| I think if a fighter can make the weight, let him, but he has to take into consideration that draining ones self takes a lot of a fighter. I am good with it. | |

| There are weight limits in boxing not height limits. If the fighter can make the weight than more power to him. | |

| I wonder if boxing will ever put in height limits? Doesn't seem reasonable, but who knows? | |

For me it definitely would change how I felt about a fighter. Especially when thinking about p4p. I have an easier solution. Go back to same day weigh-ins and take the talent/skill of cutting weight out of the sport. But as the rules stand? That talent/skill counts.
