| http://www.mmamania.com/2010/5/24/1485627/ufc-113-early-reports-suggest"Early reports on UFC 113 on 5/8 in Montreal have the show doing 520,000 buys, slightly above the 450,000 that the first Lyoto Machida vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua fight did. We should note that there were cable reports as high as 687,000 for the show, and trending patterns were only slightly behind GSP vs. Dan Hardy and the highest besides that show since August, which would also indicate something closer to the latter than the former. There are a lot of other measures that also indicate the higher number, but as far as the number of buys from people who would have the numbers and that can be confirmed, the lower number is the best number we've got." | |

| Solid # for 2 guys that aren't huge names yet.
I like this trend upward the last few cards have had. I have a feeling this summer is going to be huge and maybe even rival last summer's blockbuster cards. (98, 100, 101, 102)

| after the firestorm following the first fight I would have expected much better #'s. I thought it had the makings of a superfight.
But for whatever reason the hype never really built for that fight. It was pretty quiet in the days leading in.

| Its very tough to sell 2 guys that dont speak English in my opion. Also they didnt really hate each other I think that always helps. All in all I think the card did well. | |

| No, it is easy to sell the best fighters in the world if they knock people the fuck out. The data shows time and time again title fights are the real draws of the UFC. Sooner or later people will accept that. Shame the Liddell-Ortiz 3 fiasco got cancelled, as when that fight did south of 350k coming off a TUF it would have been the nail in the PPV-draw-myth coffin. PPV buyers are educated on the UFC. PPV buyers and "casual fans" are not the same. Season ticket holders and casual Cowboy fans aint the same either. | |

But for whatever reason the hype never really built for that fight. It was pretty quiet in the days leading in. I'm with you on this, UFC didn't try very hard given this was the biggest fight among the best fighters in the best division for the belt and a rematch to a controversial first fight. There was practically no press or buzz generation of any kind compared to now where two guys are fighting for the chance to fight the winner of 113. Language is a barrier but nothing to throw in the towel over. They must of just figured Kimbo was gonna carry a big buy draw and got lazy with it, canned him when it backfired then really got to work for 114 to not repeat. How many talk shows has dana been on this week, tv and radio, I've seen or heard him live at least 5 times and been notified of several other national spots.
