I assume Ali would have gotten the same. No see I disagree, Joe and Ray were liked by white america
Muhammad Ali was a disliked black muslim
Ali had a fair statement, in how in the hell was I labeled too dumb to be eligible for the draft initially and then you all of a sudden added me into the draft
it was a good question Give me a break. He was not too dumb to enter the draft I know he failed that test on purpose. Also it amazing how he can get rich and become this big figure in this country but ask him to serve and oh hell no the government is after him. I think one of the key questions is do you believe conceptually in the idea of "conscientious objection?" Do you believe Quakers, Amish, Mennonites etc, pacifist churches all, should be exempt from military service based on sincere religous belief?
I think if were going to choose to allow religion to play such an important role in society then we need to respect the religions beliefs (except for the ones that want to kill us!) Kinda where I come out as well.

| wow interesting subject...i have a few simple thoughts on ali in his career and this topic.1..ali is a intelligent guy especialy after listening to hundreds of his interviews on many topics...he definetly flunked that test on purpose..2.louis and robby were liked not only by white america but all americans..ali was very controversial and had huge support from younger americans in general some intellects as well on his position on the war and his consientious objecter status...he also had huge hatred towards him primarly on this isasue...3.ali was unfairly stripped of the title and his boxing lisence due to his first conviction but was on appeal....this i feel was a political stance by the boxing commisions..
many people have embrased the muslim religion in adulthood..nazim has and i feel hes genuine in that and practices with firm devotion..mike tyson has not deminstrated that devotion..i feel ali is somwhere inbetween but very close to nazims devotion over mikes so so thing..5. i believe in the right of a consiousl objecter and there are many people and secs of religion that are genuine and strong beliefs in there hearts on this issue...did ali.im still not convinced entirely but the supreme court was and the fact ali was willing to go to jail over this issue and have a possible destruction over his reputation says a ton..if i had to choses a yes or no on alis sincerity there id have to say yes based on that. ali took a political stand on things and weather we agree or disagree on his thoughts i think it was done with genuine conviction. the one thing i find absolutle disgusting was the olimpics giving him a great honor of the olimpic tourch and relaced his gold medal..this was going too far for the man tossed his medal into a river and started proclaiming poltical reasons for his actions violating the spirit of the olympics and by doing that indirectly insulted all the participants in every capoacity in the olimpics...i feel it was a disgrace giving him that honor for he will never earn it because of that incident...too many kiss this guys ass and this was a prime example of that....its not a case of forgiveness its a case of honoring someone who totaly disrespected the spirit of the olympics...if they were to honor someone id rather see a reversal and honor jesse owens and jim thrope..not ali..
