| I say he is. The guy shows up in top 10 lists all the time. But lets be honest his resume is not there. He never beat a great HW in their prime. |

| His division was certainly overrated at the time.

I have been arguing with people all day about this Ali. Tyson is not even top 3 in his own era but he is a top 10 ever. Give me a fucking break. |

| Tough to call him the most overrated HW of all time when he was the youngest HW Champion ever!!! Come on guys?? Overrated yes but most overrated HELL no! If u really want to say something about him its that he wasted a ton of talent. The guy rarely trained hard and respected no 1. He was a very good fighter with no disipline at all. He had the tools to be 1 of the best ever and for some reason refused to use them. I have a tough time calling him the most overrated though but I will say he should have been so much better. | |

| tim , you gotta understand
Tyson wasnt the youngest heavyweight champion ever
he was the yougnest WBC champion
Michael Spinks beat Larry Holmes The Man and real champ
Mike Tyson didnt become the Heavyweight Champ until he beat Spinks, not when he beat Trevor Berbick
he wasnt the champ he was a belt holder

he wasnt the champ he was a belt holder Come on he was a champion! Just like when they say guys like Floyd and Oscar are champions in 7 weight classes!! Thats all it takes in Boxing! All u have to do is win a alphabet title and u are considered a world champion. I didnt make the rules some 1 else came up with that bs LOL.

| no dude, i dont i say floyd was the man at 130, 135, and 147
Muhammad Ali beat THE CHAMPION he didnt go beat the New York State Athletic Commission Champion
Michael Spinx was the champ
your wrong
people that know the sport call what Tyson did as being a trinket holder, people that dont know the sport call it being a champion

| patterson was the youngest REAL HW champ..tyson was a trinket holder since spinks not berbick was the legit champ...yes tyson is overated by many zealous fans who cannot see beyoung the ko wins he had over fighters who actualy did not punch back.douglas was the first to do so and we all know the results..tyson had some strong assets like speed of hands punching power and many angles which he attacked from..he had shortcomings in defense dispite what his fans think will to win and determination..if you look at the douglas fight and after the third round looked at his facial expression you will know what i mean...lack of heart in many fights like lewis second holly fight mcbride williams and a few others..heart knows no prime or time.if you have it its there forever..gatti is an example when whatever skills he had evaporated the heart was there in huge size..ditto lamotta basilio chuvalo and others. mike i feel despite that is a top 20 HW.i list him at 17..most overated nooo..overated by many yes...of the champs i think corbett was the most overated..in contenders there are many.10 gerry cooney and clev williams heads that list of several that qualify.. | |

| I agree that Tyson is the most overrated boxer I've ever seen. He's one of the most overrated athletes period. He ranks a good 4th or 5th in his era of HWs, yet we're always hearing him compared to all time greats. HBO would make the same statement. One of the few things I'd agree with them about. | |

| i lost my post on corbett so ill try again..yes corbett indeed took boxing into the modern age..first HW title fight with gloves and the marquess of quesnberry rules..the reasons why i saw overated are several.first nat fletcher owner n founder of ring mag list him number 4 all time in the HW..flechter had a lot of influence with readers and boxing fans cause there was no tv etc etc.number 4 over dempsey louis marciano and ali..nat gave us a picture of a fighter with great footwork and speed.awsome boxing abilty great jab and comdo puncher..fact is corbett was none of that..nat romantisized that era and fighters much like damyon runyon etc etc..all his top ten in reality is a joke..first jim had a record of 11 wins 4 defeats a few draws a nc or two and was koed 4 times.would we call a fighter like that great today. further examing films of corbett and his 2 fights with fitzsimmons we see reality..slopy footwork no great jab not one combination a faulty defence and amatuerish balance..fitzsimmons was a greater fighter yes but nat ranks him lol number 3 all time in the heavys..hes 168 lbs and we are told he had huge broad sholders arms of a blacksmith and a powerfull chest..yet all photos of fitz and film clips of him show boney sholders skinny arms a flat thin chest..hardly what we read..corbett indeed was a poineer but very overated.especialy by nat fletcher..the sports writers of the day noted to take money from fighters and promoters to give great press to followed suit.thats why i say jim was ovbvereated | |

| i get what your saying about the record Dmar, but back then records were a bit different
Jiim Jeffries record was something like 14-1 and he was one of the best ever
I think COrbett deserves alot of credit for showing the importance of foot work, the jab, feinting, and just all around being a smart fighter
I think he deserves the praise, but good points from you
