this is why i think this.

He is the definition of a fighter who hands picks his opponents in various divisions that represent a balance of low risk to high reward .

he was a genuinely good fighter at 130 although he never fought acelino freitas or joel casamayor , those were the two live guys that represented a real threat , he stayed far away from them . He did beat jesus chavez who is solid , genenaro hernandez was shot that fight meant nothing. his best win was diego corrales who was facing a jail term prior to the fight and was also facing severe issues of making weight. Alas floyd picks the most beatable of the 3 beltholders , a guy who had a big punch but was slow and had now defense.

at 135 again if he stayed there longer he could have been a good champion , to his credit he fought the best at that weight jose luis castillo , he was thoroughly outworked and beaten in that fight and got a gift descision . He did the right thing and rematched , i remember the second fight and i did'nt think he did that well JLC still landed the harder punches , floyd ran all night and through light punches nonetheless i give him credit for a close win. Never beat another LW of signifigance. he also had a fight with victoriano sosa whom he should have dismantled but settled for a close points win.

at 140 here is were things really get bad , poor arturo gatti at this stage in his career was an absolute slug and again was facing weight draining issues floyd has a radar for dehydration and fading sklls he can smell them. Also beat henry brussels a telemundo fighter no one heard of and pilip ndou a guy not in the top ten. His only quality win in this division was chop chop corely , whom he performed well against.

at 147 zab judah allthough talented was coming off of a loss and has to this day certain wekanesses such as lack of focus after 4-5 rounds . The 4-5 first rounds where zab actually showed up and though punches he won in fact he made floyd look bad and it looked like we were seeing floyd in with a live dog for once, but again zab has this mental breakdown after about 5 rounds where he stops fighting at all and falls apart mentally. Ffloyd also beats a completely shot sharmbe mitchell
and wins the linear title from the slow and plodding carlos baldomir one of the most beatable WW champs in the history of the division.

at 154 in what i think is his most impressive win he beat oscar de la hoya , ODLH was the bigger guy so he was at a size disadvantage , but oscar does not have it anymore , he is not the fighter he once was , the version of him that fought trinidad or or whitaker , or vargas or even the 135lbs version of oscar , i would have picked him to beat floyd , oscar only brought about 5 full rounds worth of energy into a 12 round fight that is all he had in the tank to disperse through the fight and that is why he lost. floyd handpicked the richest price in boxing an old oscar de la hoya.

the ducked list

joel casamayor had tremendous skills and amateur pedigree , a rough dirty fighter and a southpaw with equal speed to floyd.
joel very well could have beaten floyd but his management would never sign this fight.

acelino freitas in his prime was very dangerous and explosive , he was an energy fighter that could dominate fighters with his athleticism and power sort of like mike tyson , however once he got a little tired he became less and less dangerous as the rounds went on he was a bit of a front runner. Floyd has great defense that would help him alot in this fight , but freitas was dangerous , it was a pick em fight. Floyd fought deigo C instead who was just as hard a hitter but was more stationary and predictable and better suited to his style . Acelino was ducked.

shane mosely at any weight class was ducked , floyd once said that he would fight mosely as a tune up fight for ODLH , this fight never materialized @135 or 147 , SHane would beat him at any weight . bank on it.

at 140
i like that he is now fighting ricky hatton the real champ at 140, he should have fought him 2-3 years ago though , hatton seemed much more dangerous and hungry then . nonetheless a step in the right direction. Kostya tszyu in his prime would had floyds number and beaten him soundly , floyd used to threaten that he would go up in weight and beat him , but he waited till tsyzu was beaten before moving up , and then he avoided the guy that beat him for 3 years.

floyd i feel is not the goods at 147 , his body is more fit for 140
so i don't expect him be great at 147 , but as far as ducking he basically is ducking the whole division , ducked antonio margarito at the cost of 8 million dollars , will never fight a large WW such as paul williams or cintron , he has no interest in fighting miguel cotto whom i think would absolutely pummel him .

there have been fighters that did'nt fight alot of great fighters yet still were great. Roy jones did some of the stuff floyd did but he was a tremendous talent way above floyd mayweather.

but this is it in a nutshell , this is why PBF is overrated. and wy it irks me to read all these stupid articles from mainstream writers saying that no one hs a chance to beat him.
