| Shogun was the challenger. He earned his title shot by beating two guys with an average age of 43. He was 2-1 in the UFC.
BJ was the Champion. His one career loss at Lightweight came 8 years ago. He is largely considered the greatest Lightweight of all time.
The only thing these two fights have in common is that they were close decisions.
The BJ situation is being talked about not so much because of the decision itself, but because of the significance of the decision. I don't think some people realize how big it really was. | |
